Looking over a sea of orange plastic cat ears, discount gashapon, and mouse pads with boobs on them it makes me think of one thing- America.  And to celebrate America on President’s Day Weekend FUNimation was proud to wave the flag of fandom and quality DVDs at KatsuCon in the Washington DC area.  I was sure to snag a badge for the President just in case he decided to stop by.

You know, if they could have, some of the Presidents would cosplay.  You know, those old skool ones with their white wigs and fancy lace coats.  If I had to guess what would the best match up I would go with the following.

As usual we had a booth in the Dealers Room where many fans stopped by to pick up a few needed DVDs, check out some new trailers, and grab some free stuff.  I was stuck stationed here most of the weekend.  But that didn’t mean that we couldn’t have some fun on the floor.
Thanks’ to the guys over at AC Paradise we managed to recruit some D Gray-Man cosplayers to help us with a very interesting promotion.  We had them going around the convention and giving people a little forget-me-not.  A toe-tag completed for them on site.

Some fans died of a “key-blade to the skull” others of “choking on a stick of Pocky.”  One poor guy had “screening room projector blow-up” in his face.  An absolute tragedy I tell you.  …of course, no one really died.  We passed out a lot of tags.  That sort of thing usually ends up on the news when true.

All good stuff.  And I’m pretty sure there is/will be a few posts on this blog of some other fun announcements this week.  I hope you enjoyed them as well.  As you can see things are busy at FUNimation.  I just really want a day off after 3 cons in a row !(OhayoCon, NYCC, KatsuCon) This can wear you down even when happy animes are all around you.

As you can see I’m very in need of a break from all this grueling work. The only thing this lounge was missing was a smoking jacket.  O bunny goddesses, you sure grew up fast for the second season of Gunslinger Girl.
