An Evangelion Event

eva_afiThis Sunday at 7:00PM is the FREE public screening of Evangelion 1.0 in Dallas, TX at Victory Plaza for AFI Dallas.  We want all you die-hard fans to come out and join us.  It is an outdoor event open to the public so bring your lawn chairs and get comfy!

And for those of you dedicated enough to come cosplaying your favorite Evangelion characters, we’ll be giving out dozens of FREE tickets to the Thursday, April 2nd showing at the Magnolia Theater (You can really appreciate the film when in an actual theater).  Our FUNi Reps will be handing them to whichever cosplayers they encounter until we run out of tickets, so be sure we can see you.  We want to make this an exciting, high-energy event so please show your support and love of anime.

If you’re a local fan, be sure to let me know in the comments section! =)

I don’t really see how that’s appropriate or relevant to the event but ok…

Well I sure hope this is dubbed by the old cast…

Before anybody believes that I’m just randomly saying things to tick Eva fans off, here are my reasons:

Hey, though. That’s my opinion on Evangelion. And honestly, it saved me from becoming an overblown otaku.

I know you have reasons for your opinion, and I mean you do have good reasons, I just don’t think it’s very appropriate for this blog post. This isn’t a place for a discussion about Eva, it’s just a news post about a local film festival that’s showing some anime. Personally I just don’t want to see this become something more than that and I feel that if it doesn’t end now that it will blow up. And I know I really have no place saying this but please no one start a discussion on Eva.

Oh, and I think this is the subbed version, I don’t think it’s dubbed yet.

Already bought my ticket for the April 2nd showing. Hopefully I can get some of the people from my anime club (the Irving Anime Club) to go to the free screening.

I think this is a great event for those interested in watching it… not people who want to debate on the anime industry and evangelion. I can’t wait to see all the cosplay!

Please bring the Pani Poni Dash box sets. I would like to purchase them. I have been unable to find them at any stores in the DFW metroplex.

Other than that, this should be a great show and I look forward to it!

I don’t believe we would be authorized to have a vender selling our DVDs.

There are many online retailers that have Pani Poni Dash like Amazon.com, BestBuy.com and RightStuf.com.

Just go to FUNimation.com/paniponidash and click one of the retailer links.

I’ll definitely be there with my roommate as I’ll be taking pictures of the event for my news site and doing a live blog. Is there any special consideration for press or will it just be a standard public event?

I believe it’s a pretty standard public event. You will have to check with AFI Dallas for more details. I’m glad you’ll make it out. I will be there for the event, so if you see me, be sure to say hi.

I wish to pay cash. Many online retailers do not accept cash as a payment method. Do expect that Pani Poni Dash will be available at a store in the DFW Metroplex?

By the way, it is backordered on BestBuy.com.

VLOXY: RightStuf will allow you to send in payment via money order. So you can use cash and purchase a money order (you can get money orders at the post office, and at many supermarkets or convenience stores) and then mail the Money Order in.

It’s just a thought! Also, some retail stores will let you order the dvd if they don’t have it in stock, and then you can pick it up and pay for it at the store when it comes in.

A great time was had by all (once the audio/video was fixed from chipmunk speed)! It was also fun meeting the Funimation staff. Thanks for the cool postcards!
