Evangelion Afterthoughts

http://www.flickr.com/photos/moviejulie/It’s an early morning after last night’s showing of Evangelion 1.0.  Luckily the weather warmed up a bit for the outdoor screening, but there still was a chilly breeze gusting through Victory Park. Thanks again to all of you who came out to support the event.  I even got to meet a couple of resident readers – VLOXY, sorry I couldn’t bring Paniponi Dash.  And thanks for the live coverage Humberto.   A big thanks is due for AFI Dallas selecting Evangelion 1.0 as one of the participating films.  Also, thanks to Julie of AFFD for the http://www.flickr.com/photos/moviejulie/photos from the event.

For those of you who couldn’t make it to Sunday’s showing, we still have one more screening this Thursday, April 2nd @ 7:30pm.  I may even have some ticket vouchers available.  We did have a couple technical difficulties with our HD version at the Victory Park screening so hopefully that will all be resolved for the Thursday showing at the Magnolia Theater.  Either way it still looked pretty awesome.

I also had the pleasure of attending a AFI Dallas afterparty later than evening with some of the FUNimation gang.  With free food and drinks, how can you go wrong?  Now I’m not used to the hoity-toity atmosphere of the former LFT Lifestyle Fashion Terminal at Victory Park, but it was interesting to hang around people in film.  For good measure, they threw in a swimsuit fashion show.

I hope everyone that made it out enjoyed the show.  I believe it was an overall positive experience and we hope for more to come.  If you did attend and I didn’t get a chance to say hello, sorry I missed you.  Hopefully everyone got some goodies and Art Cards from the event.  If you were there, please share you experience in the comments section.  Also, let me know if you’re going to attend the Thursday showing.

I am not a fan of Evangelion cause I hate anime with Gundams/Mecha (except for Code Geass and Sky girls) But I am willing to give it another Chance when it comes out on DVD.

Big ups for the event. Its great to see Funimation really pushing for a crossover hit with the Eva movies. Wish I could go to the Landmark screening, but I’m going to Vegas to cover CTIA for my other sites.

Thanks for hosting this at AFI. That’s a great venue for it, I think. I’m not a huge fan of Eva, but I’ve got a few listeners who probably are so I just had to review it (it’ll be up tomorrow). I’m curious, though, has this been screened at other locations? Are there plans for that? Anyway, glad it was such a success in spite of the ridiculous wind!

I’m guessing they played this subbed right? there’s no dub for this yet correct? Anyway seemed pretty cool. I don’t live anywhere near there, but I would have loved to go.

    Prede,
You are correct. We do not have the dubbed yet for Eva 1.0.

    thegirlnerd,
Thanks for attending and providing extra coverage. We have screened it a few other festivals. It’s North American premier was at Santa Barbara International Film Festival. We also screened it in Washington D.C. this past weekend. For a listing of other events, check http://www.funimationfilms.com/event.html

I had a great time. I will not be attending the Thursday show. Don’t fear, I am sure I will be able to find PaniPoniDash somewhere! Maybe in the future you guys can bring the continuation to this Evangelion movie. Victory Park was a great place to watch anime!

All I can say is this made me love Eva more than before. The viewing in Victory Park made it a unique experience, almost like going to a drive in. Definitely on my have to buy list. Can’t wait to see when the dubbing cast is announced.

ps: guess which person I am from the trench coat brigade. :P

I can’t wait until the 2nd! As a Dallas resident, it’s so exciting to see Funimation screening Eva at an event such as AFI. I wasn’t able to go to the Victory Park screening because of work, but I will definitly be at the 2nd one. Will Funimation be screening this or any other film at this years AFFD as well?

    PhoenixFilms,
AFFD has yet to be decided. We’d love to have more films shown.

    Strelok,
I’m going to assume you were the one asking about auditions? Let me know if I’m correct according to this picture. (Original picture compliments of Julie of AFFD)

I wish I lived near these events or had the money to travel. I would have loved to have been there. The Neon Genesis Evangelion franchise is one of my favorite animes (all of it the movies & TV show).

I can’t wait for news regarding the English Dub and really hope Funimation is going to try to get most of the original dub cast. Hopefully Funi is working with ADV on this :)
