FUNimation Entertainment celebrates Hulu.com’s First Birthday!

Happy first birthday to our video sharing partner www.Hulu.com!

In honor of this momentous occasion FUNimation is adding new anime to the site today, including the first four English-dubbed episodes of the baseball-centric series “Big Windup”, the sci-fi action-adventure series “Heroic Age” as well as the full-length animated feature film “Origin: Spirits of the Past.”

We’re offering “Heroic Age” exclusively to Hulu before releasing Part One of the series on May 12. “Big Windup”, Season One Part One is scheduled to hit the streets in August.

Cool factoids:

1) Hulu has become the second most popular video Web site online (source: PC World)

2) Hulu now serves more than 24 million users on a monthly basis (source: comScore VideoMetrix, January 2009).

3) Hulu’s content library has grown from 12,000 videos in March 2008 to 40,000 videos today totalling more than 7,100 hours of premium video including many FUNimation titles!

Are you going to be adding subbed versions of any of these for previewing? I’d love to watch Big Windup, but I strongly prefer subs.

    Expia on says:

Thanks! Watching Big Windup on hulu right now. Any chance there will be subbed versions as well?

Subs? Eventually. Just not in the next couple of weeks.

THANK YOU! I’ve been dying to check out “Big Windup!”

What’s the release date for the DVDs?

Will the series on Hulu continue being on Hulu after April 11? Will they be available on the Video Portal here at Funimation as well?

I haven’t tried Hulu yet but it looks like I’m going to be doing so very soon. I’ve never been big on sports anything but I decided a while back to check Big Windup out, mainly because I trust Funimation to do a decent job and anime has a lot of gems in genres I normally don’t like.

I’ll give Heroic Age a listen too. Wow, ya’ll are really moving things out steady lately. It’s amazing how much Funimation is doing while everyone else is having trouble with just getting out the stuff they licensed before the economy went wonky.

Thanks, Rojas. That makes me happy, since I would love to watch the series on the Video Portal as I have with several other series.

Watched the first episode of Big Windup on Hulu. Funny with a hint of serious so far. Nice. Hulu loads pretty fast too and I like the countdown to commercial end. Haven’t gotten the chance to check out the rest of the episodes yet.

i just watched “Big Windup!”, and i actually really liked it even though i don’t know anything about baseball and i don’t even like any sport animes. XD; i liked the mix of humor and drama and strategy, and i’m looking forward to seeing more. (any release date? month? season? please?) i haven’t seen the original Japanese like m, but personally, as someone who normally doesn’t like dubs, i thought the dubbing was fantastic, especially Greg Ayres and Sean Michael Teague (also, Todd Haberkorn and Aaron Dismuke). i can’t believe how hooked i am on this already!!

oh, one more thing about “Big Windup!” does anyone know the name and artist of the ending theme? it’s usually in the end credits, but for some reason, i didn’t see it on there. weird. @_@

Would you be interested in writing for The Neave Online Publication? I love your writing style and I feel like you would fit in perfectly with the other writers.
