Anime Pictionary
As promised, here is my wonderful drawing depicting the show that FUNimation has newly acquired. I’m not giving you any further hints so you’ll have to manage with my super awesome picture. Yes, I actually drew this just for you and no, I won’t leave my job to work at your animation studio. This is the kind of art that 4 years of business school can get you.
So anyway, we’ll get the press release up on “Latest News” @ FUNimation.com soon following the announcement of the correct answer. Hopefully it won’t be TOO easy to figure out, and before asserting any correct answers, I’ll let you discuss probabilities amongst yourselves. I enjoy that.

Yeah, don’t get discouraged Rojas. I’ll have you know: When given a choice between a press release and Pictionary, I will ALWAYS choose Pictionary.
@scottfrye
It’s ok. To lighten the mood, how about a giant clam wrecking downtown Dallas?

aww, i really liked your little game and drawings (nice!). it’s great that you like to make even announcements more fun for everybody. i had never heard of this show so my initial answer was, “uhh… Hot Man Jay?” @_@
also, you went from business school to blogging for FUNi? how awesome are you, Rojas? XD
@ Rojas
I stopped getting disappointed after that “Dis Iz How We Get ‘em” reply in the “Win Friends & Influence People” post.
But hey. It could’ve been worse.
I hope there are many more license announcements soon! Maybe xxxholic:kei perhaps? Well, good to know you are still licensing shows! So, Congratulations on licensing shows! Go team!
I don’t have enough exclamation points so..!!!!! There..I’m happy now! Bye!
Rosario + Vampire am I right?
lol I should read the comments first.
I though “Captain Falcon??” But that’s a blue jay so I have no idea
fahrenheit man bird no smile?
never heard of it
I always manage to get to this blog too late and miss out on the fun. I must say that is a very creative and fun way to announce a license. I love it when you guys post fun little hints (or in this case pictures) for fans to guess, it livens things up a bit. I love to see more of this in the future.
And I never bothered to look at Heat Guy J before, but after seeing that the character designer is Nobuteru Yuki, my interested has been peeked. I might have to snag this when you guys release it. =)
(And LOL at the giant clam destroying downtown Dallas. My dad is leaving for a business trip to Dallas next week, I’ll be sure to warn him about this threat. XD)
“Sorry it wasn’t rocket science. I guess next time I’ll just outright tell you.”
For license rescues, this is what I prefer. Just send the solicitation out and be done with it, because it’s really no different for the fans than a company announcing a rerelease of a show already released – and those don’t come with announcements.
Save the fun stuff for new shows. I really like the creative announcements that we’ve occasionally gotten from licensors in the past, but only when there’s something worth announcing at the other end.
It’s hard to get excited about a rerelease of something that rightstuf.com can’t even get rid of at $3/disc in their bargain bin, though I suppose this was part of a package deal in some way.
Wish it had been something totally new but for anyone who hasn’t gotten this and would be interested, it’s a good thing. (I have Heat Guy J, it’s not a bad show at all. Vampire is a fun character with his questionable sanity.)
Is the box set going to include any of the DVD extras that the Geneon release had?

.
(sry! I’m watching last night’s Jeopardy!)
Good Pickup!
I liked the game. I’ve never heard of Heat Guy J, so it was enough of a challenge for me. Besides, I think fans should be rewarded with the information ahead of time if they prior knowledge of the series.
Rojas said “Ouch… well guess I won’t try to have fun anymore. Sorry it wasn’t rocket science. I guess next time I’ll just outright tell you.”
Nah I really liked the guessing game. It helped bring up some exitement at least right? Just probally not a good idea to do one with a game with a license resque, since it builds up all this hype, only to be let down because it’s a license of an old Geneon title that the DVD’s are still easy to get. Everyone wants a new show, so they expect the best, and get soemthing they already have on dvd. It’s a huge letdown for some. Now if it were a show that’s hard to get on DVD (like Utena, or Haibane Renmei or something) that be a different story. Still it’s best to only build hype when it’s a new show.
Still I enjoyed the guessing game. I really like it when you guys do things like this . I hope there’s more of them to come ^^ . Hope the p’oed and disappointed people don’t turn you off from that completely ^.^ . It’s not that their disappointed about the game, more like that they didn’t get a brand new show. Don’t worry about it too much.
Rojas ignore trolls, I enjoyed the guessing game. if it is a picture or one of those phrases that you done before I don’t care so much to just hear the title, its so boring.
XDD @ monster destroying Dallas
Aw! Now I’m itching to draw fanart!
awwww, the monster is so cute XD >> <>
Extras are good, extras are very good
Though the thing that made me happiest is to open vol 4, the last one I needed, and to find a Boma pencilboard. I got to finally watch the later episodes AND enjoy shiny
Always check how available a title is before you go for the three disk bundle at best buy. $30 for the first three disks was good, the pain of finding the later disks at prices that didn’t make me feel bad since I wasn’t as friendly with online buying then was not. This meant cons were the way to go, and everyone was ONLY selling it in entire series bundles.
…so the real lesson I guess is online buying is your friend.
I like the idea of anime pictionary…..I may not be too excited about this pickup, but that in no means should dampen all of what funimation is doing for all of the anime business. Rojas, keep the titles coming and don’t take peoples criticism so seriously. I would prefer new acquisitions for dubbing, but if old titles are saved as well i am happy. Saving titles like black lagoon, Samurai Champloo, Sgt. Frog makes these attempts at saving it all worth the effort. Some anime needs to be saved, like FLCL. If FLCL could be saved I would be on heaven, but that does seem unlikely.
Rojas, keep up the good work.
Ya did give it in a Classic Concentration style! The frown almost threw me off though. Big up’s Rojas!
Could you do xxxHolic Kei next? I wonder how you’d draw that though….hmm…
OMG!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR GETTING HEAT GUY J!
This made my week, I love that show so much! *____*
