Digimon Adventure 02 Goes Live @ FUNimation.com/video
w00t! As part of our digital partnership with Toei, Digimon Adventure 02 is now available at funimation.com/video in original Japanese audio with English subtitles. Sweet. I honestly haven’t had a chance to watch this season of Digimon in the past. I did watch the first season, making this a welcome addition to our video player. I sooo wanted to have my own Digimon back in the day. But after missing Digimon Adventure 02 it just got too hard to follow all the new series, monsters and characters. Now I can catch up! =)
What about you guys? First exposure to Digimon? Interested in seeing the Japanese version? Share you thoughts.

=D
I used to watch the first season of Digimon every Sunday (I think it was on ABC Family). Even though I was 16 or 17, I loved it. Never watched much of it after that season, so I’m looking forward to seeing this second season!
I really don’t get why Toei didn’t do Digimon Adventure 01, seriously, why start with the sequel.
Digimon Adventure 01 is licensed in the U.S. already and Digimon Adventure 02 is not, I think. I love the fact that Toei Animation is thinking about the U.S.
SWEET, I used to watch the Dub, now I can see it teh original way. YAY
I saw the dub of this a long time ago. I might watch this version though,
………… Fail
This is nice. Though in my opinion, Digimon Tamers is the one that I’m waiting for. :3
I used to watch all of the Digimon shows on Fox Kids (lucky, aren’t I? ;)) during my teenage years. I kinda enjoyed them, though the first couple of seasons had an AFWUL theme song.
I’ll continue to watch Fist of the North Star, though. Nonetherless, I hope that the Toei venture will pay off for you guys.
Huge fan of digimon.
Would just like to say though the Video player is really really slow. hopefully you guys can sort it out.
If not for Digimon, I would not be an otaku.
Regardless, this is the worst season of the five, and the only catch is its in Japanese, though that really doesn’t excuse the fact that its the worst cast (minus Ken, who runs circles around every Digimon character ever) with the worst story progression and the worst finale. It’s just not worth it, FUNi.
Now, if you got Digimon Tamers from Toei, and put it up subbed, I’d probably explode with happiness.
I wish Toei would expand this deal to cover more of their shows. I’d like to think I speak for a lot of One Piece fans when I say it would be wonderful to have it on the video portal.
Right now, out of the announced titles, I’m waiting for Pretty Cure. I’ve never really been interested in Digimon. (Probably because back in the day, I was a huge Pokemon fan. Every so often, I still get the urge to buy those boxsets but so far I just can’t justify it to myself.)
i remember watching this on tv, too. i only saw the first two series, but i enjoyed them, so i’ll probably check this out for the original japanese. thanks!
I agree with Richard J. It would be nice to have more Toei shows on the video portal, including One Piece.
However, if you manage to get Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo…,there is nothing that could measure the amount of glee that I would feel when that happens.
Hey thanks Funi for the awesome show, hope you release it on DVD and get all the other Digimon Series!! Also thanks for letting the UK to watch !!
Good grief, I can actually watch it for a change.
I’ve still never seen the whole of 02, mostly just the scant episodes that were released on VHS in the UK (i.e. the first three episodes) plus the odd few I managed to catch on TV (being outside the target age at the time). I think at one point I started collecting some nasty .rm files from IRC but never completed the series that way either.
The ultimate news would be subbed (or even dubbed) DVDs of Tamers. It’s a pity Maximum’s (fairly) recent UK (dubbed) DVDs of the first series dried up after 20 episodes, although it was further than any other English DVD or VHS release managed to get to my knowledge, and that includes the US.
Put up season 1&3 and you got your self another viewer. I love Digimon but the 2nd season was the one I did not like at all. Thank for getting it though.
I love Digimon ^_^ been watching it since it first aired back in the day. Thanks for putting it up so i can see how the Japanese is different from the Dub.
One, two and four were the best seasons, and season 3 (tamers), and season 5 (Data Squad) was horrid for me to watch. I think its because they took a new turn to Digimon in those seasons, and it just didnt attract me.
If you guys can some how get the DVD distribution rights for Digimon, (even if it is only in Japanese with subs) that would be awsome. Having the TV show on my shelf would look nice next to the Digimon movie. I know its slim for it to happen, but I would still love to have Digimon on DVD.
I may no die happy. I have had a very strong urge to rewatch 02 recently, so seeing the announcement from you guys was very much the universe falling into place.
Will finish watching the ep of Heroic Age before I hit play. Besides, since I’m doing speech outline dub is kinda a better idea for me now… but that’s what I was waiting for when you announced the Toei thing… D:
Also would buy Digimon DVDs. Having something beyond the feewww eps I still have on VHS from when it was airing would be wonderful. 02 was my favorite season, though I love them all- well, can’t speak on Data since I haven’t seen it, but all the other series were just pure win :3
………….D: All this wishing for other seasons makes me sad and makes me wish I had a Daisuke plushie to comfort. Complain much, people?
…As if Brotherhood was not enough reason for me to love your video site lately. Thank you so much!
Any chance if this goes over well, we’ll get more seasons or some decent DVDs at last?
I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw this news. I love Digimon so much! Granted, it’s not the original dub (which I will love over the sub, no matter how corny it was… actually, it’s because of the corniness that I miss it so much), but it’s Digimon, online, streaming, free, and not-terrible quality, and I’m just melting with happiness. Kudos, Funimation, and I’m waiting eagerly for any more!
(P.S. I know that there’s a lot going on in general, and this is just a small question from a small fan, but is there any possible way at all Funi could claim/take/buy the rights to the soundtrack from the dub from Bandai? Not that the stuff on the Digimon Movie CD wasn’t awesome, it’s just that the music on the dub was really gorgeous and I would pay a king’s ransom for a copy of the instrumentals. Then again, I’m completely obsessed.)
Thank you again!
Now if only you guys could get the rights to make a new uncut dub of it.
