Come one, come all!
That is what must have been yelled out to the crowd at the beginning of Anime Boston this year since from the start we were swamped. Don’t believe me? Well then I hope you get covered in bees. That and I have video proof:
Our booth was slammed non-stop. Fans came by for free stuff, new DVDs, or wanted some questions answered. Some with very passionate and very specific reasons on why they came to see us first. We can dig that.
One of the biggest events for us this weekend was the premiere screening of the the English dub of Romeo X Juliet. We teamed up with ACParadise to help promote the show with some great cosplayers.
We had personal invites for some special few and postcards for others to join us at the premiere and these both were in high demand. We ran out of each of them pretty quick. The event drew a nice sized line that ended up filling almost the entire room. The fans we talked to afterwards expressed really enjoying the English dub as well as the show. One confused fan mentioned it would make a great play but hey we’re just glad he enjoyed it.
The cosplay crew were seen through out the convention other than just at the FUNimation booth. At the formal ball, through out the halls, and at the hotel. They really loved playing the part. Even with the tough questions.
FYI, the ‘dead hooker’ sign is a Shinchan reference. ;) If this wasn’t enough RxJ for you the real Coup de grâce of the show was the amazing skit the team put together for the masquerade. There is nothing else to say about the video below except MUST WATCH!
Was I right? Of course I was. So as you can see the convention was a huge for Romeo X Juliet and FUNimation. But that’s enough love and high art for me right now. Sorry, no poetry.
We also had a few wonderfully fun announcements at our industry panel that you may be aware of. If not, again bees, here is the down low on everything.

We also announced that we have Spice and Wolf. This is a very cute show that the fans were very happy to hear we have. Who knew moe-conomics would be so cool. Some more than others. Guess we shouldn’t have too surprised by passionate fans. One did propose during Laura Bailey’s panel.
To a very happy crowd we announced that FUNimation will be premiere the English dub of Evangelion 1.0 at Anime Expo this year. We also finally revealed the English cast for the film. To do this we brought a special guest to speak directly to the fans. Eva ADR Director Mike McFarland. He talked about how casting was done and then each individual cast member. Here is the list for the show.
