FUNimation Anime Expo Preview #1 – Eva! Eva! Eva!!
Anime Expo is getting closer and closer each day. Actually all the July conventions are sneaking up on us quickly. Just to keep them all top of mind, this is hung 3 feet from my desk.
We are still putting the finishing touches on the convention but here is what I can share with you so far.
Evangelion: 1.0

English Dub World Premiere
Room: LP1
Date: Friday, July 03, 2009
Time: 5:30pm to 7:45pm (line up early!)
This includes some panel time to talk about the film. Why you ask? This is because we will have Eva 1.0 ADR Director, Mike McFarland and voice of Rei Ayanami, Brina Palencia on hand to talk about working on the film and answering questions from the fans.
They will also be on hand at our booth signing autographs:
Friday 3:30 – 5:00pm
Saturday 2:30 – 4:00pm
We will have a very nice place for them to autograph as well since we will have a full cosplay team on our booth in our own recreation of the school homeroom from Evangelion 1.0! Desks, chairs, Reis, chalkboard – school type stuff. Our friends over at ACParadise have helped us create something great again this year that will be very similar to the Ouran Host Club we had at AX last year.
As the Flintstones said, it was a gay ol’ time. With this years event we will have different Eva cosplayers in the homeroom waiting for you to come by and see them. So be sure to be engrossed in part of the world of Eva 1.0 when you are at the convention.

I will be at Otakon!!!!! You won’t haf to look for me, i’ll make my presents known…. I still haven’t ordered my Cosplay yet >_> There is a chance that I won’t get to be Zetsubou Sensei.. I am waiting to long I thing I will order tonight and pray to the god of Despair that it comes before July 15th.

@ Adam S.: The suspense may kill me, especially since I’m already trying to figure out if the the marker drawings under the CLASSIFIED bars have any significance whatsoever. 
Can’t wait to see what else Funimation has coming soon to my collection and I hope to hear news about upcoming English dub casts. (As a dub fan, I can only rely on Funimation 100%. Please never fail me.)
There will be cosplay huh? Hmm, the lovely Brina Palencia will be there too. . . .

Man I wish I could be there. I’d love to have her autograph on numerous items. (I’d probably have to make several trips back to my car or room for more things to have her sign.)

Meh. The only con I’m going to this year will be tiny little Natsucon… Not that it won’t be fun… I’m relying on my favorite anime distributor to give something newsworthy to all the young anime fans out there who are bound by their parents when it comes to convention travel!

@ Kyoko: We’ll both have eye-strain and heavy brain strain by convention time trying to some how translate those bits of drawing around the edges into titles, won’t we? Hopefully whatever is announced will make us all happy.
Funi’s Twitter mentioned something about officially talking about something we already know about. (I figure full release info for Sgt. Frog maybe.)

The announcement on twitter about something we already know, I believe that it is referring the the persistence of myself, Alex Greer, and Robert Alexander Laney sniffing out the Dragon ball uncut release. It was originally posted on wallmart.com but now it shows up for pre-order on the Z-Store as well. I know that FUNimation will not tell us if this is true yet, but the evidence is starting to pile up.
btw…. If funimation is re-releasing Dragon ball I hope that they do release the Uncut version without the cheesy american cover ups… like the flowers placed on little goku’s…….you know, as well as the others. I think most fans would like it as it was meant to be seen, unaltered (except dub).
or since they said we already know about it, it may not be…..but I can hope.
…..but I believe that Sgt. Frog was announced at Sakuracon in April, and is coming to DVD this September.

I didn’t think they’d really given details on the Frog release but however it plays out, it’ll be fun. Robert’s Anime Corner Store is already listing a DB season 1 uncut boxset (no details on episode count) for September too. (Check their blog for info.)
I’m hoping for new titles along with confirmations.

I don’t know if you guy can do this at such short notice, but I was wondering if you guys could consider webcasting the major FUNi events (Panels, Cast Reveals, Random acts of Cosplay, etc) at the cons. For those who can’t make it…..(this year!)

I’m just hoping for ANYTHING Samurai Champloo related other than the boxed set, I fell in love with that series and if there’s even a grain of info regarding it I get my hopes up once again.
