New Videos Available Online

For you fans who live digitally with no need for physical goods (except for those that get you online), we’ve got a few new offerings. Think of it like you’re in the Matrix and these are new upgrades to your virtual knowledge. “I know kung-fu” Ok, so maybe that’s a dated reference… Instead, think of it like Ghost in the Shell or Serial Experiments Lain. Wait… those are actually older than The Matrix.  Maybe I’m just getting old.

Anyway, for those of you that don’t live in some virtual world and like to actually have the awesome DVD box sets in  your hands, these episodes are great for previewing series before you buy them.  Get out there and find something you like.

SO. WORTH. THE TWO WEEK. WAIT.

Winry kicking Al’s ass for being stupid is my 3rd favorite moment of the manga. X3

    But next week…

    Haha awesome.
Glad you’re keeping up with the show. :D

I don’t know if it is the case for anyone else, but the video streams page is down for maintenance on my side of the pond. :(

I’m a firm believer in hard copy but if not for the fact I own most everything on that list, I’d be checking out any I was interested in. (I’m behind on FMA:B. I have trouble watching the Nina episode. )

@ Rojas, do you have an estimate on how long before the Video Portal is back up? YouTube and Hulu are fine and all but the portal has Pretty Cure and I’m also hoping you’ll get the simulcasts back up again there.

While it’s good to see FUNi’s digital domain expanding, I just really want to check out the next three episodes of Phantom.

Hope that the security measures taken will appease the Japanese companies and can thwart those trying to steal your videos.

Though I really also hope that this maintenance can be over with quickly so I can watch Phantom ^_^

Is it okay to ask about The Video Player?

    Nebs on says:

At this point it’s beginning to look like Funi is giving up on their own video portal…. >_>

    Richard J. on says:

@ Nebs: According to Funi’s Twitter page (yes, Twitter isn’t just for helping Iranians resist opression) the work is mostly done but the tech team is being thorough. I doubt they’d just give up on it.

And I like that avatar. 8O

    Mokona on says:

What about Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~?

    Richard J,
That joke was in bad taste.

  • 10
    Richard J. on says:

@ Mokona: I don’t see how that was in poor taste given it’s a factual statement and wasn’t meant as a joke or as an attempt to belittle what, hopefully, will go down in history as the second Iranian Revolution. Just a reminder of the mundane utility aspect of the service since it’s gotten so much press for it’s potentially (I hope certainly) nation-altering power.

I was trying for the equivalent of the Roman soldier reminding the honored hero that he’s “still mortal.”

*Edit: They recently posted that they’re going through the episodes themselves now. That’s likely why it’s taking a while and not a sign they’re shutting it down any time soon.

    Richard J,
Totally understand where you’re coming from now. I apologize for taking it the wrong way.

    Richard J. on says:

@ Mokona: No problem and really no need to apologize. I probably should have made it clear I wasn’t trying to make a warped joke. (Sometimes I forget that there really are people who’d find what’s going on in Iran funny.)

    Rojas on says:

I could just say “bananas” and someone would interpret it as a sick joke. =)

Anyway, we’re still working on the video player. Better safe than sorry. If I get some new info, I’ll definitely let you know.

    Shadow Mask Prime on says:

…. The Streaming is locked for the UK now… I knew it was too good to last/be true… I wish they brought the Internet rights to show the stuff on UK Internet too…. Go On Funimation, I even brought an episode of something when I was able to… wait, does this mean this episode of I have is actually illegal? Funimation! Take responsibility and make my episode legal again! … So, do you think they read these comments?

  • 15
    Richard J. on says:

@ Shadow Mask Prime: Rojas works for Funi so it’s safe to assume they read these comments.

@ Rojas: Watch Girls Bravo and the word “bananas” will always have a special meaning.

By the way, the YouTube streaming offering is almost entirely dubbed (which is great for fans like me) and I was wondering: is that because the dubbed eps are getting more hits?

Also, once again, it looks like the Video Portal is, at least temporarily, up. Hope it sticks.
