@ RichardJ: Everyone agreeing would be a little boring but then again, it would mean a lot less violence in the world.

And here I thought; a lot more respect for each other would bring a lot less violence in the world. But of course you know how that story went, right. :?

I, for one, want nothing more than healthy competition so we can all say that we have a choice. If only one company is "doing it right" and nobody else, then everything would start to suck.

Everybody's currently doing all of these "license rescues" as if what they've gotten was "fresh off of Japan's animu bakery." Meanwhile the REAL new animu is basically the same thing in different costumes, no concern for the opinions of the mainstream anime fanbase outside of Asia, while we get "sloppy seconds."

What's really saddening is that we can all do better than this. Sudden panchira withstanding...

@ Tyrenol: I like to think our exchanges are generally pretty mild. Everyone agreeing would be a little boring but then again, it would mean a lot less violence in the world. It's impossible anyway so the whole thing is moot.

The bit I mentioned about MB was something I read on an industry-related blog a while back. I think it was on Robert's blog, the guy who runs the Anime Corner Store. I could be misrembering it but assuming I'm not, it basically said that their actual market penetration was second to Funimation. (Personally I'm less fond of MB because of my very strong belief that anime should be released with an English dub, especially since they're one of the few companies that used the New York studios. I was so pissed off when they released Simoun sub-only. )

Thinking about getting the Ah My Budda series when it hits collection though since I have a harem love. Probably Moribito as well. I'm not boycotting them anymore, that was an over-reaction.

I just prioritize other companies and shows first. Right now, generally speaking Funimation titles have my top priority with occasional pick-ups for others.

And yeah, clearly there needs to be better web security for Funimation but still, what the heck? It's so pointless to do this. The episodes are coming up!

When the fansubbers used to argue that they subbed because series weren't going to come over, I could appreciate that arguement. At one time, I even felt it was more than a little valid. But this? It's a certain thing and all they are doing is getting the episode out a little early. It just seems like such an a-hole thing to do.

About funimations security, I think that it sucks that it has come to hackers infiltrating again so early. I am disappointed that you can now only stream FMA, rather than let it buffer for awhile. I understand it makes it more secure, but for people who live in the woods and have no high speed internet available, it makes it impossible to watch because dial-up is our only choice :( . Buffers for a minute then plays 2 seconds then buffers. Oh well, i guess I'm out of luck. Stupid hacker had to ruin it for me.

@ RichardJ:

If everybody agreed on everything, the world would be a dry and boring place. And it feels so great to have a healthy discussion with opposing opinions without someone going off like a mini-bomb and saying something stupid.

Also: I like to know the source that said MB is #2 behind FUNi. I considered John Sirabella's company the underdog of this US anime industry, and I've been rooting for him. 8)

And about FUNi's web security? We don't know if it's the same pieces of scum from HorrorSubs or maybe some evil hacker(s). I do know that somebody's doing a bang-up job shooting everyone else in the foot. So much for generosity.

Interesting note: MB is (or at least was, I haven't seen new numbers in a few months) the #2 anime company. They passed Bandai a while back. Funimation dominates though, they are well ahead of them.

About Tyrenol's suggestion:
Not much hentai in my collection but personally I'd support straight out hentai releases if they actually brought in a good profit. Certainly some titles I'd like to see brought over uncensored. Ane Haramix would be an instant buy.
We can agree to disagree about dating sim anime though. Well, I can at least. Tyrenol doesn't like me for my positive opinion on them I'm sure but I can accept that disagreement and agree with him when we're on the same page. (Also, we have similar opinions on the provocative nature of panties! Who knew?)

Also, what the hell is going on with security on Funi's video site? Hackers have struck again!
