Given what happened to the prior attempt… I’ll pass. Not to mention there are already many other places that offer the same thing.

Good trailer, but to be honest, it goes way too fast. By the time I read what is going on at one slide, the next one comes. It was hard to process it at the rate it was going.
A teaser of what the site looks like would be good too. Looking forward to this.

I sense a Cowboy Bebop vibe with this commercial for some reason… XD

It’s a cool commercial, but I’m still not sure how interested I’m gonna be in this site until I can actually get a look inside. Someone should make a default profile or something and take screenshots of all the different areas of the site and what you can do there. That’s what I wanna see.

Hey dragon0, have you seen Phantom yet? That show is Made of Win! You should try that out if you haven’t. I recommend Phantom to all!!!

Looks great! Although I could barely keep up with the speed of the trailer.  Too much, too fast. But what I could catch sounds awesome. I just hope I’m able to play the videos because right now I can’t get more than 2 minutes to play on the Funimation videos before it freezes and fails.  Can’t wait to check out this new site whenever it officially opens.

Mario I’ll give it a go later. Got a few other shows I’m previewing right now. Here’s one for you if ya haven’t seen it yet. Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou. If you like Index you just might like this, its similar.  :bloody: and yet diffrent.

No offense but that trailer is just words. There are no screen shots or demonstrations of features so I have to say this isn’t a good trailer. It tastes good but it’s not filling, you know what I mean?

And I am a bit concerned about all the “betas” going around. Is the Video Portal getting a final version any time soon? Will Shodojo? With the increasing emphasis on the net, I’m a bit worried that so few of Funi’s recent efforts have gone beyond beta-test mode.

Not trying to be a downer, I just want to see success and beta isn’t success. It’s a prelude to success at best and a failure unto itself at worst.

I agree with Richard J its only words. I hope Shodojo is a success, and is what i imagin it would look like.

Dragon0 I will check that out. Its playing now I see, I’ll look at it later tonight. Did you ever watch all of Index??
<I was writing an Idea here but after I read it over it was stupid> (It was for ShoDojo)

I was going to say I’d expect the site at least to be available even if the videos were not, but then I remembered another anime portal form another company (darned if I can remember what it was called) which didn’t allow you any further than the front page if you weren’t from the US. I doubt that will be the case here and I fervently hope it won’t be (not that I need yet another social networking site to forget to visit :p)

    cmage on says:

I really hope you guys can get anime to stream from other companies, like how ANN has them from ADV, Bandai, Viz, etc.  And maybe some way to access the stuff on Crunchyroll or Hulu.  It’d make joining the website a lot more appealing, instead of watching stuff that I can already watch on your website and having a Facebook account.

All of the content on Shodojo will be free right? (including the actual episodes/OVAs/Specials/Movies etc)

    Baru on says:

This interests me, though I’d like to actually see how the site is before I decide to join. The concept has potential. :-)

    Richard J. on says:

@ Baby Naruto: So far this hasn’t really been addressed but so far Funimation hasn’t done much on the net that required payment. If there is a pay-to-play aspect, it will probably be very cheap.

Actually, I kind of wish they charged a low annual fee for all of their online services just so they’d have a bigger budget for upgrades and maintaince. Maybe we’d have UK access restored and a better Video Portal already. (Sorry, I’m in Rant mode after posting a doozy on my own blog! Click my username to read it. It deals with money but not ShoDojo.)

Anyway, I’ve been wondering lately exactly what the costs of streaming licenses are anyway. There’s a part of me that longs to start my own anime company and nothing would make more sense than beginning with streaming/digital download-to-own deals in today’s market. (Ah dreams.)
