NYAF – A soulful show for sure

We just got back from New York Anime Fest this year and it was a great success! From the fans who came by the booth to shop, to everyone who made it out to are many events FUNimation was well represented and received this weekend. Here is a little video with some of the fun we had at the show.

over 20,000 people showed up to the convention and Soul Eater was the real Bell of the ball. The ACParadise/Soul Eater voice cast skit was something that had never been tried before and the fans ate it up. I can happily say that everyone involved loved taking part in the event and thanks everyone who came out and gave them such a huge ovation. That was, like, awesome and stuff.

The skit wasn’t the only surprise either.  We had a special greeting from the Japanese director and voice actors of Soul Eater.  After that we rolled the first three episodes of the English dub.  The voice actors and additional extra guests who worked on Soul Eater both in North America as well as Japan came on stage to talk about the project and take questions from the audience.

I had to duck out early to take care of the Soul Eater cast autograph line that was about to break a few fire codes with the amount of people who wanted to line up.  In less than 60 seconds we had capped the line.  When the autograph session started the cosplayers from the skit each stood next to their voice actor counterpart.  The fans loved this idea and we had all of them pose together for a big picture at the end.

Proving that we also were promoting some other shows other than Soul Eater at NYAF we had Travis Willingham, who did make a surprise visit at the Soul Eater panel, on hand signing autographs for Fullmetal Alchemist.  Screenings for Sgt. Frog, Evangelion 1.0: You are (not) alone, as well as some of our newest titles had standing room only over the weekend.

If you haven’t heard we had a few announcements at our industry panel.  We are very happy to be working on FMA Brotherhood, to be bringing X back to the shelves, and to release a re-dub and uncut Initial D.

With NYAF coming to an end this completes our very heavy September of conventions.  I hope that everyone who made it out to a show had a great time and I hope to see you guys, and new people, at conventions in the future!  As for now – I need sleep

I went on Saturday so I wasn’t able to see Eric’s completed work. I did take plenty of pics though.
Travis was sweet when I was getting his autograph.
OMG! That’s me at 8:04 with my friend and my brother!! You can’t see my face ’cause she telling me a story…
Anyways…I wish I could have taken a picture with Todd. Micah was pretty mellow for his first convention. He was excited when I told him that I liked his character in Blassreiter. The line was UBER long. Two hours of wait…but it was worth it, epscially for my first convention. Good times, good times…..

Good showing Funi! However the biggest announcement for me was that Viz licensed the Library Wars Manga (Shojou version) so now I have a little more hope for the anime and shonen manga to be licensed. All are excellent fun.
