New DTO Episodes – Including more Strike Witches
More DTO videos up for grabs at FUNimation.com. $1.99 per episode – Get ‘em while they’re hot!
I’m sure many have you heard about the unedited Strike Witches episodes. If you haven’t, here’s our official response on the matter.
| As our fans know we have always released the series we license in their original, uncut form, as their creators intended. However, due to the mature content contained within the series Strike Witches and the feedback we received from some of our fans following its streaming launch on www.funimation.com, we have replaced the originally posted unedited episodes with their edited versions. Fans of the series will be able to purchase the uncut episodes when the series is released on DVD as well as any subsequent subscription or download-to-own digital platforms. |
As the mumbo jumbo says, you can still get the uncensored, uncut version on DTO. We’re up to episode 6 on Strike Witches – so if you just HAVE to see what the hubbub is all about, check it out on Download-to-Own. Personally, I didn’t think it’d be such a big deal, but hey, whatever. Here’s a list of what else has gone up this week for your viewing pleasure.

Never underestimate the capacity of fanatics to be fanatical my friend Rojas. You and me and plenty of other people are rational but to some, they just jump right in and wig right out.
Nice offerings for the DTO crowd. I’m a DVD person myself but great to see that list. I hope Funimation is turning a decent profit on DTO. I’m also interested in any future subscription streaming services if it means a better vid player than the current one. (Is maintenance EVER going to be finished?)
Sigh, so i’m guessing that you guys won’t be uploading the soul eater episodes in the dub anytime soon, huh?
I had my hopes high that you guys were gonna upload them sometime this week

my guess it that they will put them up when the “maintenance” is finished so it will play at peek quality.
Speeking of the maintenance, how much longer till its done. Every time I try to watch vids they freeze up, contiuesly buffer and so forth. Any chance it will bu finished soon?
Might have some Soul Eater dub stuff for you later this week… who knows.
Yeah, maintenance is still on going. I assure you that we are working on it and trying to do some serious changes. Wish I could say more, but I don’t really have more info than that.
@ Rojas: We appreciate the work you and others at Funi are doing about the Video Portal. There was a point for a while where I couldn’t even use it at all but now I can, albeit with some issues. I know you guys are working hard but having some sort of ET on completion of the maintenance or a new player or something would really help everybody’s confidence.
And I’m looking forward to those Soul Eater eps.
My only concern with Strike Witches now (And No Jokes, Rojas.) is the English dubbing cast and the date of its release.
And what’s up with you people and Saiunkoku? Is this title not selling as many units as you believe it should?
I mean… ”Opinions and personal tastes.” But can’t we just move on to an anime title more people will actually like?
“You know… You should be careful what you wish for, Nols.”
I said I wanted Youhei to turn the tables and smack up Kyou and Tomoyo. Why is “not being cliche” so difficult for people?
@ Tyrenol
The Youhei “character” was meant to be the sidekick who gets slaped around. Just becasue it was by girls means nothing but funny to me because who says a girl can’t kick your but.
But I supose you have a valid point. Sometimes they should stick to what is naturaly beleived to be true or the “not cliche” as you have put it. Stong guys that protect the weak or however we want to see it.
Wait who would go to Funimation.com, pick the show Strike Witches then complain about content, do parents actually watch shows on here with their kids, and due to that strange letter on Hey Answerfans two weeeks ago about it being the next Sailor Moon decide to watch it?
@ dragon0:
I know that Youhei was meant to be “the sidekick who gets smacked around.” I need to take you back to “To Heart” and introduce Masashi Satou to you. He’s a soccer player and managed to get with one of the other girls Hiroyuki didn’t pick.
We… I. I don’t get many side characters like Masashi anymore. Was it the slow decay of the creativity behind the creators or the taste of the audience? I don’t know and I’m increasingly disgusted with the end results.
Hell.
I was reading the comments about Kimi no Todoke (“Sadako & Friends”
). And people are starting to cuss out and ignore the male lead there. (Because he’s the only one that’s nice to the poor Sadako rip-off.)
@ Tyrenol: You watched To Heart? That’s a bit of surprise given the kinds of shows you usually talk about. Mind if I ask your opinion of Hiroyuki as the lead? (Just curious and if you don’t want to answer, feel free to ignore.)
@ Mitamaking: Someone said Strike Witches would be the next Sailor Moon?
@ RichardJ:
No, I don’t exactly watch To Heart. (I saw the first episode; that’s about it.) I read the 3-part manga series, though.
All I’m saying is that I don’t feel the young guys in 90% of anime anymore. They’re either indecisive, pathetic, weak, non-existent, all of the above, or “dead by the end of a series if he did succeed in anything.”
I’ve just read the latest “Hey, Answerman” over at ANN. The hardliner otaku-tachi, if Brian’s right, probably ARE being taken advantage of and robbed of their money. ![]()
@ Mitamaking:
Someone also said that “Strike Witches is loli material.” And this is from a guy who frequents this blog.
You learn to ignore the noise that doesn’t make sense to you. Everything else, you have the moderators clamp down on ‘em.
@ Tyrenol
So yu don’t want the young guy in anime that much anymore yet you seem to hold distaste for many that are all girls. I know that you have exceptions such as Strike Witches, but now you’ve realy lost me.
I’ve seen To Heart so I kinda understand what your saying.
Here’s an idea, dragon0: Go back and read every post I made on this blog. And then come back to me. Alright?
Yeah right that take way too long and I’ve go tbetter things to do. I’m just sayin gsomtimes your comments confuse me. I wasn’t trying to provoke anything.
ANN manufactures controversy to increase their page hits and thus ad revenue.
@Tyrenol: Same here about SW. I was so disappointed when I saw it missing on the January solicitations…I was hoping it’d be released in time for my birthday, orz. Also, Youhei is one of the best characters in Clannad, IMO. Luckily I here he gets more prominence in After Story which is coming out soon.
