Driskill Hotel Ghost Investigation

Normally we wouldn’t be talking about ghosts during the holidays but this was just too cool!

Ghost Hunt – The Complete Series
Now Available on DVD

Working for an Anime company can have its perks. However, I never dreamed I’d get to tag along in a real ghost investigation!  I’m Amber, one of the Marketing Brand Managers here at FUNi and in charge of Ghost Hunt. I’ll be the first to admit I’m a huge Paranerd. I watch Ghost Hunters, Destination Truth, Paranormal State, you name it! So as you can imagine, I’ve had a blast working on our anime Ghost Hunt. When doing some cross promotions with the lovely April Slaughter (Click here for our Interview with a real Ghost Hunter) we became friends quickly. She loves Anime, I love the paranormal, we hit it off.

I had the great honor of being asked to join the Investigation of the beautiful Driskill Hotel in Austin on the evening of Sunday November 22, 2009. I made the three and a half hour drive for this once-in-a-lifetime chance. This was the first time in 40 years the Driskill would completely shut its doors to guests and it went completely dark.  April’s group, The Paranormal Source (of the Ghost Hunters TAPS family) was the first group to ever be given the opportunity to investigate the entire hotel.

The Driskill was built in 1886 and is located on 6th street in Downtown Austin. The hotel itself is breathtaking and beautiful, but has a darker side. The hotel is known to be one of the most haunted hotels in Texas. The Driskill did not disappoint either. We experienced activity, and I can say for sure that place is haunted. Throughout the night, I personally had my hair touched twice, something the size of a small child touched my leg, and during the Frank’s Box session, I grew so cold I was shaking and stayed that way for nearly five minutes. Other members had their hair pulled as well, saw shadows, heard a disembodied voice, and had success communicating using the K2 EMF Detectors.

Filming during this event was Brian and Anna Marie Byers from Ghostology and GTV.

It was a wild night and an incredible experience. Evidence is still being reviewed but I have heard that April’s team may have caught some EVPs. I guess “the dead have something to say.”

Pretty cool, that stuff freaks me out. If a little girl ghost touched my leg she would totally become a ghostly football and I would of made a ghostly field goal.

    I had an absolute blast!
@Tyrenol technically it would be the Nightmare before Thanksgiving? The investigation was actually on 11/22 :)

@Pauly That was pretty wild. I have 2 small children myself so I know what it feels like when they lean against you or put their hands on your leg like that. It was a bit freaky but being with a group of professional Ghost Hunters I had to keep my cool. The room that happened in was the Cattle Barons room at the top of the stairs. The little girl died chasing a ball and fell down the stairs. Very sad. We did capture a voice on the digital recorder of a little girl at the foot of the stairs.

Cool video! It’s fun to see the cross cultural exposure between ghost hunters and anime fans.

Living in a haunted house myself, it’s always interesting to see this kind of thing. I always wonder what sort of response they’d get where I live.

A reminder to everyone: the Paranormal Source is doing a fundraiser on eBay with some Funi products included. http://myworld.ebay.com/paranormalsource/

It’s still “before Christmas,” though. ^_^

@Richard That’s right! You guys can also get your hands on the Convention exclusive Spice and Wolf Holo coins that way too. I made sure to give Paranormal Source some extra coins since so many folks wanted them and we only had a few made.

They have some auctions with just the coin and some with bundles (that include the dvd).

Alright gotta get back to tending the turkey!
    Happy Holidays to you all!

I was wondering if the creator of this anime was planing on continuing the series or adding to it. I would love to see more of this series.
