Fresh from FUNiCon 4.0 – The Great Hetalia Fan Card Campaign!
Hey again, everyone! I hope you all had a splendid week! We just got done with FUNiCon 4.0 and it was a lot of fun. Well, especially fun for me because there was lovely news about the Summer conventions to share! I digress, though.
As we announced at FUNiCon 4.0, we here at FUNimation are holding a very special Hetalia Axis Powers event to let fans get super creative and show appreciation for the original creator, Hidekaz Himaruya! Up through and at Otakon 2010, we will be collecting cards showing your love for all things Hetalia Axis Powers. Fans will also have a chance to win Hetalia prizes as well as let the creator know how much the series means to them.
We want to show Hetalia’s creator, Hidekaz Himaruya, how many English speaking Hetalia Axis Powers fans there are out there and spread the love of our favorite nation building comedy!
Interested? Check out the details after the break!
Here are the rules:
- You can use any card you like, just make sure it is no larger than 5” X 8” flat. No folded greeting cards, please. Use any shape or color you like- as long as it is 5” X 8” or smaller .
- On one side, be sure to mention your favorite country/ character and why you are looking forward to Hetalia Axis Powers releasing in English this September.
- On the other side, please decorate the card however you like. Go ahead and use colors and motifs of your favorite character/ country. Make it fancy and flashy, but please keep all images in good taste. We’ll be sending these to the creator of Hetalia, so keep it PG, please!
- Be sure to include your email address on the card. We will pick the best entry from the submissions for Japan, China, America, France, England, Russia, Germany and Italy. We will also select one winner among the submissions for the other countries and one winner for group/ pairing entries. 10 prizes will be awarded in all!
- Each winner will receive a Hetalia Prize pack with Hetalia Axis Powers Season One on DVD and other Hetalia goodies.
- Can’t decide which country is your favorite? Go ahead and send multiple cards. The more cards the better because we want to show as much love as possible! You can put several in an envelope or even a box if you want to make a bunch! Have a lot of friends into Hetalia and you want to have a card making party? you can even put a whole group’s creations together in a package or envelope and send them together. We don’t care as long as they get here before August 6, 2010.
- The favorite entries will be selected by the Hetalia creative team at FUNimation and winners will be notified by email by August 13, 2010.
- All eligible cards will be sent to Himaruya-san, so even if you don’t win, your love for Hetalia will be known!
- Anyone may send cards for to show your love for Hetalia, but prizes will only be shipped to addresses within the United States and Canada. Winners will also need to be 18 or older because the series is rated TVMA. Again, anyone may send cards to be given to Himaruya-san, so even if you aren’t eligible to win a copy of the DVD release, you are more than welcome to send cards.
Ready to show your love for Hetalia? We will be collecting entries at the FUNimation booth at Otakon 2010. Just look for the awesome Hetalia cosplayers from American Cosplay Paradise who will be helping out and collecting cards to send. They will have blank index cards as well, so you can create a card at the convention if you so choose! If you can’t make it to Otakon but still want to send a card to be given to Himaruya-san, you can send it by mail to us at:

Now, Heltaia fans, let’s start humming along to Happy Thoughts Museum and show Himaruya-san what you’ve got! To get you started, here’s a few examples a few of us here whipped up. Feel free to use your creativity and draw, use pictures, whatever strikes your fancy! You can totally tell which one is mine…
Again, these are just examples a few of us here whipped up to show what you can do. Feel free to use your own art, cosplay pictures, cutouts, stickers , crayons, glitter or anything that strikes your fancy! It’s our goal to let Himamura-san know just how many English speaking Hetalia fans there are out there!

I have another question. I sent in my card already but put my email on the card. Was I suppose to add my age on there or do i have to email FUNi my birthdate to prove I’m over 18?
isnt it strange to ask to keep it pg if they went ahead and made the show mature?
I have a question,
I’m 17 right now, but I’ll be 18 this September…
so its not that much of a difference Im just a month away of being 18.
Can I still be eligible to win the contest?
what if there was me and an adult??? would that count????
I laminated my cards to protect them. There’s 3 cards, and they’re all 5″ x 8″. The cards themselves are, but the lamination adds about 1/4 an inch to each side. I’m gonna put them all in an envelope, number them, and mail them. Is that okay?
As a hetalia fan that has been watching long before the show became dubbed, I’m not quite sure why this is being consider mature in the first place. I love hetalia and the original subs never seemed all that explict to me. Yeah, sure a couple swears here and there, is funimation TRYING to make hetalia more edgy? I’m a wee bit confused….. 0-0
When you say ‘keep it pg’ does this count language? If it’s part of the character (such as Germany being the Potato Bastard, according to Romano, or anything else similar to that), is it allowed?
Just want to make sure, as I already made my Romano one and it has the B word on it >.>
i am to send my card tomorrow for i havent been able to get to the post office for a while due to a harsh schedule and might be late
do you think it will still be able to be sent to the author? (im not 18 but my parents allow me to watch the series as long as its something i can handle) plus i forgot to add my email to the card is that a problem cause i dont exactly want a prize e.e im not much for prizes cause i never win anything. plus i kind of forgot to ad my favorite character(s) which is holy roman empire and italy
i cant choose between the too they’re just too cute and i cant wait to hear both of them in english. sorry ^^;
by the way my card has japanese on the back with the translation under it and the front is HRE and Chibi-talia kissing like in episode 22. thank you for understanding
hope Himaruya-sama likes mine
I have one question! If I send my card w/ 24 hour certified shipping and it gets to the Funimation offices ON the 6th will it still be looked at and considered for the competition and to be sent to Himayura?
If anyone would answer this quest I’d be appreciative! I don’t want to spend 75 dollars on shipping only for my card to be tossed aside. D:
ok, what if the card comes on the 7th, will it still be able to enter the contest, or at least be shipped to japan?
My friend and I sent our cards by express mail on the 30th, but it only left the country yesterday, so I hope it makes it! If it does end up getting in on the 7th, I would really appreciate it if, since they will probably be too late for the contest deadline, that they be sent to Himaruya-san still…and of course see that Eric gets his cards as well
I just made my cards yesterday and I know it will be too late to send them so can I e-mail them instead? =<
I Just finished my cards on Thursday…I didn’t know I would be too late :C
I Sent mine in tuessday from STL and got the instructions from a friend on facebook and she didnt say that i needed my e-mail so I didnt put in on the card…
I got mine sent last Tuesday ^_^ I live in England though so, I don’t know if it’s got to you in time D: i really hope that it did! I’d love to know if you got it
Man, I really wanted to be apart of this, but I missed the deadline. I just found out about it today! D: I didn’t even care about the prizes, I just wanted to be apart of it because it seemed like alot of fun, plus showing the creator that there’s one more american hetalia fan out there. That really sucks D:
Hello again! Good news…MY FRIEND’S CARDS AS WELL AS MY OWN FINALLY MADE IT TO YOUR STUDIO!! Bad news….we sent it on the 30TH and it was EXPECTED to arrive 2 days later…as the guaranteed service….and arrived on the 11th >.> Stupid post office robbed us of our money on the expresspost >.> *EPIC ANGER!!!!!!!!!!* Anywho, we would super DUPER appreciate it if they still get sent to Japan!!
DARN IT! I MISSED THE DEADLINE ![]()
Can I still send in my card? It sounds like a lot of fun!
I really don’t care if I win anything, I just want to show my creativeness!
Do you know if himaruya recieved his post cards?
I was wondering if I could send an email about some very interesting facts I have found out, take a look. I want to try to get someone from the creators of Hetalia to see it because I think this could make some good Ideas for the show. Please do not steal this and send it yourself, I worked all night collecting this.
“Hello I am Elaina. I have a piece of interesting history for you. Well If Germany and France both came from a piece of the Holy Roman Empire then wouldn’t that make them related? I think this would create some tension, suspence, and humor. And I also may point out that there is a small country between France and Spain who was made from the Holy Roman Empire. So I was wondering if that would mean Germany, Andorra, and France were related. Thanks.”
