FUNimation Prepaid Cards
With the growing trend of buying anime from online retailers like Amazon and Right Stuf, it becomes more inconvenient for those without credit cards to get their favorite DVDs and Blu-rays. That’s just one reason why FUNimation is starting this program as a responsible, easy, and secure way to make purchases.
I know I’ve heard some of you guys complain that you or someone you know doesn’t have a credit card making anime buying quite a hassle. Actually, here are a few of your past comments from the blog:

Ayinde And it’s not as if many teens can buy DVDs online at their own leisure. I would assume they need credit cards or a parent’s permission.
Hopefully, these prepaid cards can alleviate those issues. Not only are they convenient, but they are adorned with anime favorites like Soul Eater and Fruits Basket. And for you parents, they make great gifts for your kids. 
We are launching this August with a variety of card designs, including – Afro Samurai: Resurrection, Soul Eater, Fruits Basket, Sgt. Frog, and Tsubasa Reservoire Chronicles. New designs will be added and available as the program grows over time.

Cards are available for the 13-17 age with parental permission and then of course 18+ too. Plans and fees for the FUNimation Prepaid Card vary and card maximum may change or fees may apply based on the plan selected.

Best. Idea. EVER. Thank you so much, this has been my #1 issue with online purchases!! Now I know what to beg my parents for… the next holiday is… Halloween? Darnit. Well, here’s to hopin’! Fantastic idea- and I understand how fees must be charged. I mean, people need to make money, right? Can’t complain about that. ^_^

More info please? Would the cards just be used for purchasing dvds? or are they regular debit cards that can be used elsewhere? I’m guessing that you would still have to sign up online to get them, and for those that are hesitant about giving their credit card info online (and i’m guessing that it would have to be paid for somehow by a parent/guardian) then that’s probably not going to help those people.
If i had a 13 year old, i’m not sure that I would want to give them a debit card that they could use for whatever, even if it did have Soul Eater on it. ^_^ Have you considered doing similar to a phone card or like how Playfish and Zynga have? where you purchase a card that is only designed to be used with their website? If you did that, then we could buy those preloaded cards in $25, $50, or $100 amounts and they could just spend it on your online shop. Then we could just go into Best Buys, or Targets, and purchase the cards there and not have to worry about giving our cc info online.
