Relief for Japan

UPDATE: Our first round of auctions end today! If you’re bidding on one of the many items like the SUMMER WARS – Hosoda signed poster + promo items or the FLCL signed poster, you’d better keep an eye on the auction. Everyone knows that the last couple hours are when the real fun starts.

And also, we’ve posted more SPICE AND WOLF – HOLO coins.  They keep selling out and we’re only allowed so many items, so this time we’ve upped the count to 8 Coins for $39.99. In addition to those, we also have new items from Ouran, Witchblade, FMA, Black Butler and more!

See all the items on our eBay listing.

FUNimation is offering numerous rare, collectible items for auction. 100% of the money collected in this ongoing fundraising campaign will go directly to organizations involved in the relief efforts underway in Japan. This is a great opportunity for anime fans to add hard-to-find items to their collection while making a real difference within the community in which we all exist.

Our Japanese friends are in need of relief. Let’s do our part to deliver it. Thank you for taking the time to give generously.

Here is a list of the initial items available.  More items will continue to be added and updated on the main site: FUNimation.com/relief-for-japan/

    Good luck with the auction, hope it raises a lot of money. Speaking of which that Dragonball Z picture is probably your best item listed thus far. Not a huge fan of the show anymore but that’s a great collectors item for those following the dub. That and a rare item, not as if you’d get a framed picture signed by the cast anywhere else..
    (Seventh attempt to post this, keep getting HTTP 500 internal server error when trying..)

    Whats up with the site. Keeps getting HTTP 500 message. Little annoying. :x Can you please try to fix if you can.

    See something I would like to get from there. Wounder what else you have planned to put up.

    @Dragon0

    Thank god you posted, I’ve been getting that error for weeks now. It’s annoying and no one from Funi seems to want to acknowledge it. 99 percent of the time now I try and access the blog/post I get it.
    (Just got it twice trying to post this response)

    Dragon0 on says:

    Yeah I’m getting it alot more than usual. I got for a bit a few day ago then it stoped but today its just about every time I visit the blog.

    @Dragon0

    I’m guessing its a programming error with the blog, or the blog server being overloaded and not handling the amount of people viewing it well. Either way it is a problem on Funimations end and I hope they fix it soon, instead of doing what they did with that advert last year that overlapped a quarter of the reply section for weeks before they fixed. I’m sure you remember that lol

    It’s just so odd how I and I’m sure you and everyone else who has the social skills to respond on the blog haven’t had this problem with any website besides this one, and this problem only started occuring weeks ago, what changed besides the Hero Tales ad they have on the sidebars? Funis blog was mostly flawless and error free 99 percent of the time before this.. Someone messed something up there.

    Dragon0 on says:

    @Matt.
    Yeah I rember the advert, and the resent “viral” warning because of the vid player on the right side there. Now we get this. After I get to a page I can get back to it relativly easy, but the first few times are the problem. So if one of thoes fine people from funi can fix it, I’m sure we all would appreciate it.

    Selfia on says:

    Couldn’t log in earlier but I suppose it’s up an fine now.:P

    Awesome to see Funi giving back and in such a creative way. I wish the best in the auction!
    I have a feeling the Summer Wars set and Dragon Ball Z print will be getting an enormous amount for donation. :D

    (also, offer Hana Fuda cards for sale already.)

    Rojas on says:

    Yeah… having issues with the site. Sorry gang. Sucks. We actually will be transitioning to new FUNimation.com soon too. I’ll keep you posted.

    Dragon0 on says:

    So the new FUNimation site is almost ready for everryone huh. Well can’t wait for it, hopefully there won’t be any bugs with it that are happen here right now.

    And I like Selfias idea. You should have the Hanafuda cards for sale, as well as the Summer Wars Ts. :wink:

  • 10
    Rojas on says:

    @Dragon0 & Selfia – We can’t sell them actually.

    Also, we only had a limited amount that we received from Japan. We don’t manufacture the cards.

    Supermutant on says:

    This is a great thing you are guys doing. Just wish I had to cash to bid on them. Even if I wasn’t saving for convention the bids but me out of contention.

    Matt on says:

    @Rojas

    Thankyou for informing about the site issues, does seem to be better now. It seems to happen randomly, like for long periods it’l be HTTP 500, some periods error free. It’s so odd lol

    Anyway hope your auctions do well, a lot of those prices are way out my price range now sadly haha.. Nice to see the DBZ picture doing so well, It is after all a one of a kind collectors item that you’l never in a billion years get elsewhere so hopefully it raises a lot of money for your charity efforts.

    Great job on that by the way, Funimation has proven they’re the best American anime company around. Well you proved before the auction but this kinda puts the point forward.

    Mitamaking on says:

    @Rojas Change the deal, I want one….

    That Summer Wars pack went out of my prize range way too fast, in fact everything did.

  • 14
    Dragon0 on says:

    @Rojas
    Ahh too bad. Don’t supose there is a way to make one with the US folks. Oh well. The biddings at more than I can afford now, so I’m out. Hope this goes over extreamly well for you guys. Japan can sure use the help.

  • 15
    Selfia on says:

    @Rojas
    I dislike that immensely. Perhaps in the future an opportunity to manufacture the card set will come up. A 10 year anniversary of Summer Wars? Or perhaps a Mamoru Hosoda day? It just kills me because the demand for the product is there but the product’s Mom in Japan won’t let it go out and play with it’s American friends, even though it’s Funimation Godparents want it to. If that makes any sense. There’s no harm in crossing my fingers for them.

    Richard J. on says:

    Oh man, I so want that Claymore auto’ed postcard. My wallet’s already so thin though. (Sometimes I wish I weren’t a figure collector in addition to the anime and manga!)

  • 17
    Dragon0 on says:

    I understand you completly their Richard. Got dist bunnies living in my wallet. And I would really like the Summer Wars pack, Birdy or Soul Eater signed poster.

  • 18
    Richard J. on says:

    @ Dragon0: And I just learned today Alter’s doing a Mina figure for Strike Witches! Wish I had a cut of some of those billions Gahdafi’s got stashed all over the world. :cry:

    Maybe I should start sending random people letters asking for money. It seems to work for the scam artists. :wink:

  • 19
    Matt on says:

    @Richard J

    Speaking of figures, did you ever read that Kotaku story about someone who bought a fan made naked Miku Hatsune figure for several thosand dollars? What is it with people and Vocaloids?

    Can understand people paying hundreds for something they enjoy, but thosands for some plastic seems, well kinda sad there.

    Supermutant on says:

    I got to say $910 for summer wars one. WOW! Good going for the winner of that. Again this is great thing you guys are doing and you seemed to be raising a lot money for a good cause.

  • 21
    Richard J. on says:

    @ Matt: Well, it was a naked Miku figure. ;) Nah, I agree that’s a bit rich for my blood.

    Dang, I keep missing Holo coins. And now there’s that Shuffle poster! ARGH! Claymore or Shuffle?

    Geez, I’m going to have to sell an organ the way things are going.

  • 22
    Jarmel on says:

    @Supermutant

    Actually that was me who won that. I’m still debating whether it was worth it or not but oh well.
