FUNimation Entertainment Acquires ZEBRAMAN 2: ATTACK ON ZEBRA CITY

Flower Mound, TX (June 11, 2011) – FUNimation® Entertainment today announced it has acquired the rights to distribute the live action film, ZEBRAMAN 2: ATTACK ON ZEBRA CITY, in the U.S.  Directed by Takashi Miike (ICHI THE KILLER) this film is a sequel to the 2004 film by the same director.

About ZEBRAMAN 2: ATTACK ON ZEBRA CITY

Let’s get ready to fight!

By 2025, fifteen years after Zebraman defeated the Aliens, the world has changed entirely.  While Zebraman has lost his memory and is in a rehabilitation facility, Tokyo has renamed itself Zebra City, and has instituted a “Zebra Time” starting at 5:00 AM/PM for 5 minutes in which the government allows the Zebra Police to attack any and all presumed criminals.  One Zebra Time results in the attempted murder of ex-teacher, Shinichi Ichikawa, also known as Zebraman.  Surviving the attack, he meets other survivors of Zebra Time who plan to revolt against the new fascist system lead by the mysterious Zebra Queen.  Ichikawa finds himself teaming up with television’s fake Zebraman and a young protege to save a mysterious little girl from Zebra Queen and her Zebra Police.  Will Ichikawa regain his memories and realize he’s Zebraman in time to stop Zebra Queen before she can use the strange aliens from 2010 to bring Zebra Time to the whole world?

FUNimation will offer the film on Blu-ray and DVD later this year.  ZEBRAMAN 2: ATTACK ON ZEBRA CITY will also be shown at the 10th Annual Asian Film Festival of Dallas in July.

    F Yeah Zebraman!

Seriously though, the name is awesome, can you imagine walking into a store asking if they have Zebraman?

A much better license than garbage like Big tits zombie.

Kudos, I’m pre ordering this when it appears on Amazon Sirs.

The plot souds interesting…. even if the discription hurt my mind with the over use of the word zebra…

Also, kinda sad to hear you guys didn’t renew Liscense for Familiar of Zero, to bad it didn’t sell well enough.

The first Zebraman film is on Amazon for anyone wondering, I wonder if Funimation will grab it off Animeworks?

    Anyway..

I’m kinda happy Familiar of Zero won’t be licensed, as far as the quality of the seasons go, they pretty much freefall and turn into an ecchi fest, honestly its like the creators knew their story was shit and just added boobs for the sake of having boobs. A dub would of been the only thing that would get me to buy Season 2 – 3 in all honesty.

So with the one company that would dub the show not being interested in it, the show is dead to me now.

Yeah the longer it goes on the more it falls from the main idea.

Though I have a question… why is it you must respodn to everythin I say to FUNi as if I am speaking to you?

    Matt on says:

As far as I know, this is the first time since our little disagreement that I’ve aimed a comment at you.

Back on the Familiar of Zero subject though, I’ll miss hearing Cristina Vees dub voice for Louise, she did so good, such a shame she isn’t in more Funimation dubs, her formspring says she would love to do Funimation Voice work someday, shes just never been called in for audition. Shows an interest on her part to eventually be a Funimation Voice actress anyway.

Kinda ironic that because Funimation is the only one dubbing, everyone wants to work for them lol

Anyway, back ontopic, hope Zebraman does well for Funi, I’ve just picked up the first one myself, weird that films like these even exist, its not as if youd see Zebraman, or something like lol Giraffeman if it exists made in America.

Guess its more interest than anything in what this film is like.

    Matt on says:

Ah okay, you have an internet grudge, I understand.

Just obviously, this is the way forums/comment systems work, people comment, people comment on other peoples comments and those people comment on those comments.

    Simple really.

But okay I’ll know in future, if anything I was just being friendly =/
