Happy Anniversary to Dragon Ball Z

UPDATE: Full interview now available HERE!

On September 13, 1996 a little show you may have heard of called Dragon Ball Z first aired on North American television. Three years later, coincidentally also on September 13, in 1999 the FUNimation dub of the series debuted on Cartoon Network.

Like many of you, I remember watching Dragon Ball Z when it was being featured on the Toonami block hosted by the little robot dude TOM. To honor this DBZ broadcast anniversary, we’ve interviewed the man who not only voiced TOM but also our very own Krillin from DBZ. We be talked to Sonny Strait about the series then and now and as it became the pop-culture phenomenon that we know today.

Here’s a quick teaser from the interview with Sonny Strait.

Check back here later this week as we post the full interview!

As we are feeling nostalgic, from now throughout the course of the release of the upcomingDragon Ball Z on Blu-ray (Level 1.1 is coming on November 8, 2011) we will be bringing you a look at the series throughout the years: interviews with staff who have been with the series since the start, interviews with actors, behind-the-scenes tales, and a peeks into the FUNimation archives including the very first script, photos and more.

Look for all this and more as we celebrate the most popular anime series of all time – Dragon Ball Z.
