June 14th is Flag Day here in the good old U.S. of A. Originally celebrated to commemorate the adoption of the U.S. flag, the holiday was not nearly sparkly enough for our taste. So, we’re going to jazz it up a little with a Hetalia Tumblr contest!
Here’s what we’re asking our Hetalians to do:
- Follow the FUNimation and Official Hetalia Tumblr pages
- Design your own flag to represent Hetalia: The Beautiful World
- Post the image to Tumblr using the hashtags #FUNimation and #HetaliaFlagDayContest(this is to ensure that the images are searchable and that we can include your entry)
- You can use any medium your heart desires: digital, crayon, paint, fabric, whatever–just as long as you can upload an image of it.

Just to be clear, your flag does not have to feature America. You can choose any Hetalian nation, or something that represents the series as a whole. Entrants may optionally include an explanation of their flag. We will be choosing one lucky winner based on creativity to win a flag-riffic Hetalia prize.

You must be at least 16 years old at the time of entry. This contest is only open to residents of the U.S. (including the District of Columbia) and Canada (excluding Quebec). Yes, we know that Flag Day is a U.S. holiday, but we’re gonna be generous and open this up to our brethren up north. Cause, ya know, America’s cool like that. (Plus, both America and Canada are voiced by the talented Eric Vale).
OK, you have your assignment! You have until June 13th at 11:59pm CT to get your entries posted. We look forward to seeing what you all come up with! On June 14th, the Hetalia Contest Committee will determine the winner and we’ll post it to both the FUNimation and Official Hetalia Tumblr pages. All valid entries will be added to a photo album on our Official Hetalia Facebookpage and on our Pinterest page.
