Everyone here at FUNimation headquarters is out-of-their-minds excited to be a part of the awesome that is Space Dandy. We bet we’re not the only ones, but just in case you were running low on reasons to geek out over the Dandy, we put a list together.
Reason No. 5: The Cool Factor
Dandy is the coolest guy in space. His sidekicks – QT, a robot, and Meow, a cat-like alien – are cool, too. Together they cruise the galaxy looking for cool new species of aliens. Sound cool enough to watch?
Reason No. 4: The Amazing Cast and Crew
Space Dandy stars the great Ian Sinclair (Toriko) as the dandy himself! Alison Viktorin (Negima!?) plays QT, and Joel McDonald (Panty & Stocking) mans the role of Meow. Alexis Tipton, J. Michael Tatum, Micah Solusod, Kent Williams, and Colleen Clinkenbeard round out the cast, and none other than Zach Bolton (Soul Eater, Dragon Ball Z) directs. This is gonna be one heck of a party, and who knows how many other stars will join the fun!
Reason No. 3: Shinichiro Watanabe Returns!
That’s right, Shinichiro Watanabe is back! Who is Shinichiro Watanabe? Oh, only the director of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. Excited much?
Reason No. 2: The Otakon Vegas Experience
Con kids will flip over what we have in store for them at next year’s Otakon Vegas. There will be boatloads of Dandy swag (see above), including pennants, stickers, and a Boobies calendar! Never heard of Boobies? It’s only the greatest breastaurant in the Dandy galaxy! Always remember, two is better than one – but three is better than two. (You’ll get it when you see it.)
Keep a Dandy eye out for appearances at other conventions as well!
Reason No. 1: Dandy is taking over Adult Swim!
In an unprecedented development, the English dub of Space Dandy will air January 4, 2014 at 11:30pm on Toonami’s Adult Swim block. Or is it Adult Swim’s Toonami block? Whatever the heck the case may be, the Dandy dub will be on television in America the exact same day it airs in Japan. Inconceivable!
