XIII – The Series is our newest offering from our live action line, Giant Ape. It doesn’t take long for the bullets to start to fly, and we think fans of Black Cat and Eden of the East could really enjoy the title. Just as Eden of the East’s Akira Takizawa wakes up without any memories, Agent XIII is a fellow amnesiac who has lost his past. Both end up at the White House in the first episode of their shows, and begin a journey navigating a vast global conspiracy full of international intrigue. What they don’t know, can get them killed. They both try to unravel who they are and who they were, while trying to stay alive against the never ending stream of those who want to terminate them with extreme prejudice. Their actions will either save or destroy countless lives.
Perhaps the most obvious connection between the anime series Black Cat, and XIII – The Series, is the fact that both of our main leads are expertly trained killers known by the code name of the number used to identify them: XIII (Thirteen). But both Black Cat’s Train Heartnet and Agent XIII have people from their respective past’s intent on killing them, both series deliver action-packed scenes ranging from gun fights, hand to hand combat, car chases and more!
A few of you may be starting to think that XIII seems a bit familiar. We can definitely confirm for you that XIII – The Series is the latest installment in the diverse XIII franchise spanning graphic novels, various games, and TV. The two season television series that aired on Reelz Channel was developed and produced by Prodigy Pictures (Lost Girl) and Luc Besson’s production company (La Femme Nikita, Taken, and The Transporter trilogy) as a continuation to the mini-series XIII: The Conspiracy, with many actors reprising their roles. The new series stars Stuart Townsend (Queen of the Damned) and Aisha Tyler (Archer, 24). Did we mention there’s even Bond Girl, Caterina Murino (Casino Royale) adding her talents to the series?
Of course if there are any Lost Girl fans out there, the series has a few little treats for you as well. Not only is the show produced by Prodigy Pictures who made Lost Girl, but there are appearances from Lost Girl’s Zoie Palmer (Lauren) and Rob Archer (Bruce); fans will also notice a few familiar sets as well between the two series.
