Don’t you want to eat tasty food? Try these Kakuriyo recipes!

Nothing looks tastier than the animated food from the delicious series Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits-. And we’re here to help feed your spirit with these mouthwatering recipes that even an ogre-god* wouldn’t turn down!

10 okra

1 large cucumber, sliced

white pepper

Kewpie Mayonnaise (Japanese mayo)

miso paste

lemon juice

pickled plum



Boil okra for four minutes or until they turn bright green. Strain and let cool in an ice bath. Slice okra and mix with cucumber slices, adding a dash of white pepper.

For the mayonnaise, mix two-parts mayo with one-part miso. Add a dash of lemon juice and mix well.

Slice pickled plum and serve on the side.





1-2 lb pork belly

3 green onions

1 tbsp oil (vegetable or canola)

2 ½ cups water

1 slice of raw ginger (or ½ tsp ginger powder)

½ cup dark soy sauce

½ cup mirin

¼ cup of rice cooking wine or sake

1 tsp white pepper

bok choy or other vegetables to serve



Prepare your ingredients by cutting the pork belly into bite-sized pieces and chopping up the green stems of the green onions.

Heat the oil in a pot or wok and sear the pork for 1-2 minutes. Turn down heat and add 2 cups of water, green onions, and ginger. Cover your pot, and let the pork simmer until cooked through. This could take up to 30 minutes. Strain the meat and dispose of green onions and ginger. Rinse the meat with warm water and put back into pot. Add soy sauce, mirin, rice cooking wine (or sake), white pepper, and remaining ½ cup of water into pot. Stir ingredients gently, and let stew for 10-15 minutes or until meat is a rich brown. Serve with bok choy or vegetables of your choice.




1 cup milk

1 tbsp gelatin

1 cup water

1 cup sweetened red beans (kernels or paste)

2 tbsp sugar

1 tsp kosher salt (regular salt ok!)



In a saucepan, heat up your milk so it is warm but not hot. In a separate pot, mix gelatin and water and let boil for one minute. Then, add in red beans, sugar, and salt. Carefully stir until everything is completely mixed. If you’re using beans with the kernels, make sure those are the only solid bits left. Then, add the warm milk and stir. Pour into dishes and let cool before placing in the fridge.


It could take 4-8 hours for gelatin to set, so be sure to check the consistency before flipping it onto a plate or eating.
