It’s our 25th anniversary, and we’ve got big plans for our year-long celebration! Join us as we look at some of the many titles that brought us all together and how they’ve had such an impact for fans, for anime, forever.
To kick things off, we’re highlighting two unforgettable fan favorites:
Samurai Champloo
Featuring smooth beats by hip hop wonder Nujabes, and even smoother animation, Samurai Champloo hit the anime scene in the early 2000s. The series made quite the impression with it’s amazing representation, engaging storyline, and the unique blend of modern tunes with a historical setting! Attracting fans of every kind, this series from acclaimed director Shinichiro Watanabe continues to hold up through the generations.
2019 isn’t just our 25th birthday, it’s also the year that the hit classic Akira takes place! And while we don’t live in a dystopian Neo Tokyo (…yet), Akira has had a huge influence on fans and culture—from storytelling, to music, to fashion! After all, who doesn’t recognize the iconic red motorcycle and matching leather jacket?
