Quirks & Questions: Can Todoroki Hold an Ice Cream Cone?

Todoroki

Welcome to Quirks & Questions, a weekly letters column where you, a My Hero Academia fan, write into Funimation (that’s us) about all things related to your favorite superhero anime.

Have questions about what’s happened so far on My Hero Academia? Want to share your love for the characters of the show? Just want to rant about what makes the series so great? We want to know!

Every week, we’ll answer a handful of your letters on the Funimation Blog, so be on the lookout for a response.

Todoroki vs. Deku

If Todoroki held one ice cream cone in each hand, would one of them melt faster than the other?

from Danielle

Hi Danielle! Thanks for writing in. You bring up a very important question about Shoto Todoroki. As we all know, his Quirk is Half-Cold, Half-Hot. So, this question is obviously the natural progression of questions for Icy Hot. And, well, the answer is that… yeah, one of them probably does?

Chances are, if one side of Todoroki’s body is always colder than the other, that’s the side that would melt more slowly, if at all, depending on the environment. You are now picturing Todoroki holding two ice cream cones.

I just wanna say as a company and franchise you guys are home to some of my favorite anime. They make me cry, laugh, hype and most off all happy. My Hero Academia is now my new favorite anime and i am glad it’s housed here. Oh and is Izuku the new symbol of peace.

from Sendo

Sendo, thanks so much for sharing your kind words with us! You can rest assured that we are right there with you: crying, laughing, getting hype and smiling our faces off every time there’s a new episode of My Hero Academia.

Of course, we also have to give it up for the incredible work of Kohei Horikoshi, Bones Inc. and Toho Co, Ltd., because without them, there would be no Deku or All Might or any of it! Thank you.

To your question, though, only time will tell if Deku will truly take All Might’s place as the new Symbol of Peace. For now, his journey continues!

I actually really like Bakugo now compared to the beginning of the series, how about you guys

from Kevin11

We LOVE Katsuki Bakugo. There’s always something to be said about a character that truly grows over the course of a series, and we love getting to see Bakugo change and grow up as he gets closer to becoming a pro hero.

One of our favorite moments is the fight between him and Deku in Season 3, where the two rivals clearly learn to respect each other through showing off their skills. It’s an incredibly emotional fight, but really shows just how far both of them have come. Thanks for writing in, Kevin!

Momo - My Hero Academia

If you could hang out with any of the class 1-A characters, who would it be?

from tigerlizii

This is a tough question, since so many of the students from Class 1-A would be awesome to hang out with. But we shall answer your question with… Momo Yaoyorozu!

Momo is such an amazing character and an incredible role model. She’s always courageous in the face of evil, and is always looking for the best way to support her friends in what they do. It’s also important to remember that she wasn’t always like this, but she’s learned and changed throughout the series. We <3 Momo!

Overhaul - My Hero Academia

Just an observation and kind of a question…How does My Hero Academia make even their villains so likeable?!

from Mr Reidlos

We think the answer to this one has to come from the incredible time and effort put in by Horikoshi-sensei on developing the universe of My Hero Academia. Despite this being a world full of super-powered beings, the relationships and characters are truly relatable. This doesn’t stop with the villains, either.

Sure, there are some despicable villains in the series, but there are also many with tattered pasts, that may not have always wanted to follow a life of crime. And the show really succeeds in getting us to feel for some of them. Thanks for writing in and great question!

That’s a wrap on our first week of Quirks & Questions! Thanks to everyone who wrote in. We’ll see you next week!
