Hey, have you heard? This spooky tale is being turned into a spooky musical. 👻
Iro Aida’s supernatural comedy manga Toilet-bound Hanako-kun, which received a TV anime adaptation earlier this year, will now grace the stage at Cool Japan Park Osaka TT Hall and Tokyo Dome City Theatre G-Rosso in January 2021.
Eito Konishi, as his first time in a musical, will be bringing the mischievous Hanako-kun to life on stage. Akari Takaishi, who played Nezuko Kamado in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba stage play, was cast as the earnest Nene Yashiro. Coincidentally, both characters were voiced by another Akari (Akari Kito) in their anime versions!
Even if we’re unable to go see the performance ourselves, we can’t wait to hear what kind of songs they pair with the paranormal misadventures of Hanako-kun and Yashiro.
For now, we’ll just keep listening to the anime’s rockin’ opening theme. 🎧
Synopsis: Kamome Academy is rumored to have many mysteries, the strangest of which involves the mischievous ghost of Hanako-kun. When occult-loving high schooler Nene Yashiro accidentally becomes bonded to him, she uncovers a hidden world of supernatural beings.
Now the two of them are conspiring to keep the peace between student and supernatural—that is, if they can only stay out of trouble themselves.
