Last year, we broke the news that Code Geass producer Kojiro Taniguchi had a 10-year plan for new content for the series, and the first of that plan has now been revealed!
Announced during a special livestream in celebration of Lelouch’s birthday, Sunrise officially revealed Code Geass: Z of the Recapture (Z is pronounced “Zett”), a new anime series now in development.

Series staff will include Yoshimitsu Ohashi (Code Geass – Akito the Exiled, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2) as director, original character design from CLAMP (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Cardcaptor Sakura), anime character design from Takahiro Kimura (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) and Knightmare design from Astrays.
The upcoming anime series is part of the 15th anniversary celebration for Code Geass. Also announced was a new smartphone game titled Code Geass: Genesic Re; CODE, an RPG that will include several characters from the series, including Lelouch, Akito and Renya.

The game will be supervised by Goro Taniguchi and Ichiro Okouchi, with character design by CLAMP and a team that includes members of the original anime staff. The game will have an all-new story from notable writers and illustrators, and will tie into past and future Code Geass installments.
Whether you’re a fan of smartphone RPGs or are just ready for some more of that Code Geass goodness, 2021 is looking to be a good year! Are you excited? Share this post and let us know!
