From Disaster Comes…Idols?! Gekidol Heads to Funimation With Early Premiere This January

After a grave disaster, what if only 3D hologram performances could restore light and bring hope to society? Get ready to find out when Gekidol premieres on Funimation as part of the Winterr 2021 anime season lineup.

And not only is the new series coming to Funimation, but it will also have a special early premiere on January 4, featuring the anime’s first episode and a short special edit of the OVA, titled Alice in Deadly School Special Edit -The Stage Begins-.

The special New Year program will only be available for 24 hours starting January 4 at 7:30 a.m. ET / 4:30 a.m. PT, so make sure you catch it before Episode 1 makes its permanent debut on January 5.

Official series synopsis: Five years after a mystifying disaster decimates cities across the globe, Seria Morino receives an invitation from a mysterious woman to join Alice in Theater, a small stage troupe that takes it upon themselves to brighten the world through their performances using 3D hologram technology. As Seria settles in, she begins to uncover unexpected truths about herself and the world around her…

Gekidol will stream on Funimation in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom and Ireland; on AnimeLab in Australia and New Zealand; and on Wakanim in France, Russia, Germany and Scandinavia.

From Hoods Entertainment (Drifters) in collaboration with theater company Alice in Project, Gekidol stars voice actors Hikaru Akao (Assault Lily BOUQUET) as Seria Morino, Chihira Mochida as Airi Kagami, Ayaka Suwa (KONOHANA KITAN) as Izumi Hinasaki, Kana Hanazawa (March comes in like a lion) as Kaworu Sakakibara, M.A.O (Fire Force) as Doll and Kohsuke Toriumi (Naruto) as Hirokazu Takezaki.
