UPDATE: Horimiya has officially eclipsed Kaguya-sama: Love is War? as the biggest launch of any romantic comedy anime on MyAnimeList.net, and it still has three days left!
In a strong winter season packed with sequels, a brand-new series is already making huge waves—the long-awaited adaptation of romantic comedy manga Horimiya!
On anime listing site MyAnimeList.net (MAL), a massive 62,912 users marked themselves as “Watching” CloverWorks‘ Horimiya within 48 hours of the first episode’s release on Saturday.
Though official numbers are logged a week after each episode, Horimiya has already beaten the previous “Biggest Premiere” record for a debut romantic comedy—last year’s Rent-a-Girlfriend, which 55,228 users logged as “Watching” in its first seven days.
With five days still left to go, Horimiya may also be on its way to challenge the “Biggest Premiere” title for all romantic comedy anime (i.e., including sequels), currently held by Kaguya-sama: Love is War? with 82,808 “Watching” users.
Add that to Horimiya‘s high average score of 8.64 on MAL, it’s definitely not a show to miss this season! And you can watch the first episode right here on Funimation.
