Hip-hop superstar Post Malone is taking a break from “running in circles” to transform into a Pokémon Trainer.
Just in time for Pokémon‘s 25th anniversary, Posty is set to host a virtual concert as part of the Pokémon Day celebrations on February 27 at 7 p.m. EST / 4 p.m. PST.
In a brief clip accompanying the official announcement, we see Posty getting ready to go out on the stage. He thanks his fans for helping him get where he is, but before setting foot onstage, he undergoes a startling transformation.
A fun, cartoon version of Malone replaces the live-action version, and he walks into the spotlight!
There’s no word on what Posty plans to perform during the concert just yet, but it should be a good time for fans. The man himself is a noted gamer and anime fan (he even has a Kagome tattoo!) so he likely knows his way around the Pokémon world.

There will be a variety of different activities leading up to the concert seen throughout Pokémon GO, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, and in the Pokémon animated series.
The Pokémon Company also notes that there will be some official announcements regarding “more collaboration surprises to come,” so you’ll want to stick around after the concert to see what they are. Looks like 25 years of Pokémon is set to last for quite a while!
This announcement comes hot on the heels of several exciting announcements celebrating 25 years of Pokémon. Previously, pop star Katy Perry was tapped to perform a special Pokémon-centric song in celebration of the monumental event.
Beyond the musical realm, McDonald’s is currently serving up Happy Meals with Pokémon cards inside them. There’s a ton of different kinds of promotions going on to celebrate the legacy of the world’s beloved Pocket Monsters.
Whether you grew up with Pokémon in its heyday or you’re just getting into it, it’s a great time to be a fan. It should be interesting to see what Post Malone has to offer during his upcoming concert.
