MAPPA is on a roll! Jujutsu Kaisen. Attack on Titan Final Season. The Gymnastics Samurai. Next up? Water polo!
Announced Friday, MAPPA is producing RE-MAIN, a brand-new original concept anime about water polo set for release later this year. An official website for the series has been launched as well. But that’s not all.
The series is co-created and chief directed by Masafumi Nishida (Tiger & Bunny), which means we’re certainly in for a treat. Nishida will also serve as series script supervisor, scriptwriter and audio director.

RE-MAIN follows Minato Kiyomizu, a water polo player who stopped playing due to an incident in middle school. Now, Minato is starting high school and he’s picking the sport back up. Though, his new team doesn’t have it easy.
MAPPA also confirmed a number of cast members for the series, including Yuto Umeura (Bungo Stray Dogs, Vinland Saga) as Minato, the series’ protagonist; Kotaro Nishiyama (Haikyu!!, A3!) as Eitaro Oka, a long-time friend of Minato’s; Subaru Kimura (Akudama Drive, Doraemon) as Jo Jojima, the team captain; and Lynn (Fuuka, Keijo!!!!!!!!) as Chinu Kawakubo, someone who knows all about Minato’s past.
