Is it really surprising to learn that the upcoming Blue Period anime adaptation already looks incredible? Because that’s the only way to describe the latest visual revealed for the upcoming series.
The May issue of Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine has also revealed staff for the upcoming anime adaptation of the popular The Blue Period manga series created by Tsubasa Yamaguchi.
Koji Masunari, who previously led Kamichu! will act as chief director, while Katsuya Asano (Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS) will direct the anime for Seven Arcs studio. Reiko Yoshida (Digimon Adventure: Bokura no War Game) is writing and overseeing the scripts for the series. Rounding out the main staff is Tomoyuki Shitaya (Food Wars!) on character design.
Blue Period follows Yatora, the perfect high school student, who thinks his perfect life is rather dull and boring. That’s until one day he wanders into the art room, and a lone painting changes his life, compelling him to dive head-first into the world of art. If only Yatora knew how unforgiving the art world really is!
The Blue Period manga won the 13th Manga Taisho Awards in 2020, and was nominated the year before. It was also nominated for the 24th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2020, and it won the Best General Manga award in the 44th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2020.
If you haven’t read it, trust us, you’re going to want to keep an eye out for the anime when it gets released later this year.
