Jujutsu Kaisen Movie Announced, Will Adapt Manga Volume 0

Must Read

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 may have just wrapped, but the story is just beginning: A Jujutsu Kaisen movie has officially been announced!

The news came following Episode 24 of the anime series and current finale, teasing the film adaptation of the manga’s Volume 0. It was also published by the official Twitter account for the series.

This prequel story, titled Blinding Darkness, focuses on Yuta Okkutsu, a nervous high schooler whose childhood friend Rika has turned into a cursed spirit and is constantly haunting him—a bit of a rite of passage for all high schoolers, am I right?

Well, turns out Rika is no ordinary cursed spirit, and she gets the attention of none other than everyone’s favorite Jujutsu High teacher, Satoru Gojo. Gojo tries to enroll Yuta in order to teach him how to confront Rika.

Volume 0 seems like a great place for a feature film. It’s unobtrusive to the anime series, yet still canon. Plus, there’s no way they won’t spend 10 minutes straight just showing us Gojo’s beautiful eyes, and that’s always a positive.

The first teaser for the Jujutsu Kaisen movie confirms that studio MAPPA will return to do the animation, while TOHO will distribute the film this winter in Japan.
