Ready for all of the feels? Square Enix just dropped the official opening movie for its upcoming game NEO: The World Ends with You, and we’re already emotional—and hyped up!
The highly anticipated sequel is set three years after the events of The World Ends with You The Animation, the anime series adapting the events of the original Nintendo DS game. It is currently streaming on Funimation.

And this opening movie comes roaring in with a rock and hip-hop beat that kicks off with “Ladies and gentlemen, introducing…” narrated over a kaleidoscope of scenes introducing us to the game’s main characters.
We then get into each character individually. There’s the serious-looking Rindo, the charming Fret and the clumsy Nagi. And a fierce battle between some Noise serves as our reintroduction to characters Sho Minamimoto and Koki Kariya!
Things then shift genres once again to a rock and jazz fusion, offering up a peek at the landscape of the world in NEO: The World Ends with You, as well as a glimpse at some additional characters.
Rindo, Fret and Nagi walk away together, and we’re greeted by the game’s title screen. Told you there’d be feels.

NEO: The World Ends with You returns fans to the Reapers’ Game and The Underground, where those who have died get a second chance at life. But the losers? Well, they’ll be erased from existence.
Our main trio here make up the Wicked Twisters Gang, and will face off against other troupes through Shibuya and Shinjuku. They’ve got one week to survive and win. Talk about pressure.
