Katy Perry and Pikachu are time travelers. After months of teasing, Katy Perry’s latest single “Electric” is here as part of the 25th anniversary celebration of Pokémon! And no, Celebi was not involved in the time traveling.
In the music video for “Electric,” Katy and her pal Pikachu head back in time to when a younger Katy and her Pichu were just starting out in music. The duo covertly help their younger selves as they strive toward their dreams.

Of course, this leads to Katy becoming the pop sensation she was born to be, and the two are successful without breaking any time travel rules.
The inspirational song embodies the spirit of the hit series, showing that no matter how long your journey is, there’s always a reason to believe in yourself. As the song says: “There is no reason that life can’t be electric.”

And this isn’t the only Pokémon music collab. Earlier this year, they collaborated with Post Malone for a cover of Hootie & the Blowfish’s “Only Wanna Be With You” and hosted a virtual concert with the artist for the 25th anniversary.
