The Funimation Summer Season Preview has officially wrapped, and wow, talk about an eventful hour.
Announcements, first looks and special messages were abound for highly anticipated series like The Case Study of Vanitas, Sonny Boy and Scarlet Nexus, and even more from the world of anime classics, film and collectibles!

Sonny Boy
We got a sneak peek of the upcoming series through the latest subtitled PV, giving us a much closer look at what to expect when the sci-fi survival anime streams on Funimation this July.
And we also got a wonderful video message from director Shingo Natsume, who is leading an incredible team of creatives on the series, including studio MADHOUSE and character designer Hisashi Eguchi.
Oh, and did we mention Episode 1 of Sonny Boy is streaming on our YouTube channel…RIGHT NOW?!
RE-MAIN
Next up, it was time to hop into the pool for some water polo with a look at the latest key visual for RE-MAIN, coming your way this summer from studio MAPPA!
Natsume’s Book of Friends
Funimation recently announced that it would be streaming four seasons of the yokai-centric anime series Natsume’s Book of Friends, but that’s not all. Tonight, it was confirmed that the series’ OVAs, titled Natsume Yujincho: Ishiokoshi to Ayashiki Raihousha, will be streaming as well!
Oh, and those? They’re available right now too!
Josee, the Tiger and the Fish
Ah, young love. This beautiful coming-of-age anime film comes to select theaters in North America this July 12-14, and Funimation showed off an exclusive clip. You’ll be able to catch it with subtitles or in English dub during its run.
Sing a Bit of Harmony
Speaking of movies, Funimation also showed off the trailer for its first-ever co-production film, Sing a Bit of Harmony!
My Hero Academia
What’s a Summer 2021 anime season event without a bit of My Hero Academia Season 5? Funimation celebrated the series’ 100-episode milestone with a special “thank you” video from the English dub cast, and a cosplay showcase of fans we’ve met from around the world!
Oh, and you know that secret figure Funimation has been teasing on social media? It was revealed! That’s right—Toru Hagakure is officially joining the McFarlane Toys collectible lineup exclusively on The Funimation Shop.
Did we mention this is the first official figure for Toru…ever? We are hyped.
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation
The fantasy isekai series that captured our hearts earlier this year is returning for a second cour! Funimation showed off the teaser visual for the upcoming set of episodes, and we cannot wait to return to Rudy’s adventure later this year.
The Case Study of Vanitas
The summer season of anime is growing! And yes, Funimation is bringing more vampires to the party. The Case Study of Vanitas officially joined the Funimation lineup tonight, as Aniplex and studio Bones bring their latest in just a few weeks.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime
The English dub cast of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 showed up for a celebratory Q&A video. Check it out!
How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom
Did someone say…more isekai? This strategic take on the genre, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, was announced by Funimation just a few weeks ago, and the Japanese voice cast of the series brought a special message to the event!
One Piece
The journey to 1,000 episodes of One Piece continues! Between the arrival of the latest English dub episodes on digital and streaming, and the adventure reaching a fever pitch in the Land of Wano, we can’t wait to see what’s next for the Straw Hat crew.

Robotech
Funimation announced this news earlier today, but reiterated during the event that the wait is almost over for Robotech on Funimation! In addition to confirming that the series (and two films) will stream on Funimation later this year, they showed off a stellar Collector’s Edition of the classic anime.
Seriously, look at this thing! Oh, and the original series has been remastered.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train
You might have known this one already, but here’s a reminder! The anime film that has captured a global audience, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train is streaming exclusively on Funimation starting June 22 in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
The Stranger by the Shore
This is the summer of love! The Stranger by the Shore, the incredible love story based on the manga by Kanna Kii, is officially coming to Funimation on July 9.
Funimation showed off the film’s trailer, and we are full of feelings already. We can’t wait to watch it!
Scarlet Nexus
And how could we not wrap the show with something special from Scarlet Nexus? The game is coming. The anime is coming. And Sunrise and Funimation brought us something special.
