A special message and illustration from the director of the upcoming fantasy series She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man have just been revealed at the Funimation Summer Season Preview!

The special illustration from series director Keitarou Motonaga features protagonist Mira, who is actually Dunbalf, who is actually the avatar of a young man named Sakimori Kagami. Phew.

The illustration reads: “Look forward to it!”

Based on the light novel series of the same name from Choko Fuji and Hirotsugu Ryuusen, Funimation co-production She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man streams exclusively on Funimation this fall.

Ryuusen also delivered a special message to fans anticipating the upcoming series:

Oh my goodness! I’m so blown away that I can announce at this wonderful event that my book is being animated! It’s being animated! Animated!

I wonder how long it’s been since I started writing She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man… Not only did I never imagine that my dream would come true and it’d be published, but to think that it was adopted into a comic, and moreover, even into an anime! I really feel like I’m dreaming.

It being animated itself is a surprise. But anime in general is something that I regularly watch and love, so I feel that it has always been close to me. Anime has always been available on TV. On top of that, you can watch it online in places like anime streaming sites these days. So it’s a familiar fantasy world that you can experience with the press of a button. That was the impression I had of anime.

But participating in it, from the screenplay meetings to the other various processes of creating this anime, I’ve come to strongly realize that we’re able to feel that fantasy world close to us all thanks to the hardships and efforts of many people, including directors.

And, finally, with all those aforementioned efforts, She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man joins the world of anime. I hope it’ll become a show that you feel close to. As a viewer, I’ll be looking forward to the broadcast myself, too. If those of you who live outside Japan enjoy this show, and moreover, if you come to like Mira, it’ll make me very happy.

Oh, yes, I forgot to tell you…I am Ryuusen Hirotsugu, the author of the story. Ryuusen Hirotsugu, who’s hooked on deep-fried food these days. Ryuusen Hirotsugu, who also insists that he’s on a diet. I’m Ryuusen Hirotsugu. Ryuusen Hirotsugu. If you could keep my name, even Ryuu-something is fine, somewhere in the back of your head, it’d make me happy.

Thank you very much. This was a message from, again, Ryuusen Hirotsugu.
