Sequel ahoy! The conclusion of Vinland Saga‘s 2nd anniversary memorial video released on Wednesday officially announced a second season for the viking-themed action-adventure anime.
A teaser visual was also released with the tagline, “The soul of the beast returns to the earth.”
Shuhei Yabuta (Inuyashiki Last Hero) directed the first season at WIT STUDIO, with Hiroshi Seko (Mob Psycho 100) on series composition, Takahiko Abiru (Hunter x Hunter animation director) as character designer, and Yutaka Yamada (Tokyo Ghoul) as music composer. The anime aired for 24 episodes in the second half of 2019.
Yabuta and Abiru have already been confirmed to return, but we’re still waiting to hear about which studio will be animating Season 2 and when it will release.
Vinland Saga is adapted from Makoto Yukimura’s manga of the same name, which has been serialized in Monthly Afternoon magazine since 2005. Kodansha USA publishes the series in English.
