On this day 20 years ago, Hiromu Arakawa’s influential manga, Fullmetal Alchemist, debuted in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine.
After the series’ conclusion in 2010, Arakawa went on to serialize the agriculture comedy Silver Spoon, while also providing the art for The Heroic Legend of Arslan.
With that incredible resume behind her, Arakawa is now set to start a brand-new manga in Monthly Shonen Gangan “soon,” according to the August issue of the magazine.
No announcement on the title and exact release date just yet, but we’ve got a sneak peek with this first visual drawn by Arakawa!

Also announced as part of Fullmetal Alchemist‘s 20th anniversary celebration was the reopening of the Fullmetal Alchemist art exhibition, digital releases for Arakawa’s manga one-shots, a collaboration café next year and a brand-new game.

A commemorative visual was released for the return of the Fullmetal Alchemist exhibition, which is set to open in Tokyo and Osaka this winter and next spring, respectively.
