Tick-tock, went the six-hour countdown posted by the official Jujutsu Kaisen Twitter account…to a new teaser trailer for the franchise’s upcoming prequel film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0!
In the trailer, we get our first look at the animation from studio MAPPA and the reveal of Megumi Ogata (Neon Genesis Evangelion) as the main character, Yuta Okkotsu!
As teased in a previous visual release, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is scheduled to premiere on December 24 in Japan and will be “a story of love and curses.”

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was announced after the 24th episode of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series, which was broadcast on March 26. Studio MAPPA were confirmed to return for the film, and a teaser trailer was also released.

The original Jujutsu Kaisen 0 manga was published as a prototype in Jump GIGA before Jujutsu Kaisen‘s serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump a year later. The prequel story remains canon, though several character designs were altered and repurposed for the main series.
