100 manga volumes. Almost 1,000 anime episodes. It’s no surprise that One Piece means a lot to people. In celebration of these landmarks, Japan has released has released a short live-action series for One Piece, with characters and stories inspired by the international phenomenon!
Take a look at the first 10-minute episode of We Are One, “Wataru the Entrepreneur,” right now. (English subtitles are included!)
From passionate young businessmen to ballerina rivals driving each other to be the best, this mini drama proves there’s no “typical” One Piece fan. Anyone in pursuit of their dreams finds a kindred spirit in Luffy, Nami, Zoro and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates.
The drama recently gave fans their first look at manga fan-favorite character Yamato in the second episode. You’ll find all episodes of the emotional drama on the One Piece Japanese YouTube channel. Then sail over to the We Are One website for a list of all the One Piece references you might have missed in each installment.
And the fun doesn’t end there! J-Pop band Radwimps (Your Name., Weathering With You) provided a full song and video celebrating the short live-action drama and the Thousand Sunny crew. “Twilight” is a joyful track with all the energy of Monkey D. Luffy and his comrades.
