The Ancient Magus’ Bride made its official return today in Japan with the release of the first episode in an original anime DVD (OAD) trilogy, but the supernatural fantasy series is already getting things ready for the second part next year with a haunting new visual!

The tagline reads, “What I yearn for. What I face.”

Depicted in the new visual are two new faces that joined The Ancient Magus’ Bride‘s cast of magical characters: Gabriel, voiced by Hiromi Igarashi (JUNI TAISEN: ZODIAC WAR), and the “Mysterious Boy,” voiced by Aoi Ichikawa (Sonny Boy).

Subtitled “Nishi no Shounen to Seiran no Kishi” (“The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Tempest”), the first part was released on September 10 with the manga’s 17th volume. The second episode is due out on March 3, 2022, with volume 18, followed by the third with volume 19 on September 10, 2022.

The newly-formed Studio Kafka took over from WIT STUDIO, who produced The Ancient Magus’ Bride‘s TV anime adaptation that aired in October 2017. Kazuaki Terusawa replaced Norihiro Naganuma as director, with Hirotaka Katō and Aya Takaha staying on as character designer and scriptwriter, respectively.
