Ayako Kawano led the production in her first primary directorial role at A-1 Pictures, joined by Kento Toya (character designer on Sword Art Online Alicization) and composer Yuki Kajiura.

The original series’ cast, including Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Haruka Tomatsu, reprised their roles, with Inori Minase (Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-) joining the cast as Mito, an anime-original character.

Sword Art Online Progressive, a retelling of the series’ Aincrad arc, was first published by author Reki Kawahara in 2012 and now spans seven volumes.

Each volume covers a single floor in Sword Art Online, starting from Floor 1 in Aria of a Starless Night. Yen Press publishes the series in English.
