Vampires have been all the rage this year, and the trend is only going to continue into the next! An anime adaptation of Kotoyama’s Call of the Night manga is coming to the renowned Noitamina programming block in July 2022, which broadcast such hits as The Promised Neverland, PSYCHO-PASS and the current Ranking of Kings.
A teaser visual and trailer was released for the anime, along with the main cast and staff:
The teaser trailer previews the first meeting of Ko Yamori, played by Gen Sato (Dr. STONE), and Nazuna Nanakusa, played by Sora Amamiya (Mieruko-chan), to the tune of Creepy Nuts’ (Ninja Slayer) theme song.
And here’s an extra peek at the strange duo’s character designs:
With plenty of vampire experience already under their belt as directors on The Case Study of Vanitas and the Monogatari series, Tetsuya Miyanishi and Tomoyuki Itamura are helming the production at studio LIDENFILMS (Tokyo Revengers), joined by Michiko Yokote (The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!) on series composition and Haruka Sagawa (Child of Kamiari Month) on character design.
VIZ Media, who publishes the manga’s official English version, describes the series as:
One sleepless night, Ko slips out to walk the streets. Life after dark is a revelation! When flirtatious Nazuna invites Ko to spend the night at her place in an abandoned building, he’s stoked! But then he awakens to kisses on his neck with a little too much bite to them…
Is it just the delicious taste of his blood that makes her meet him night after night for late-night adventures, conversation and…naps? Or something else? Then, when a cute girl from Ko’s past shows up and competes for his attention, his budding relationship with the undead is put to the test!
