My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission is in cinemas right now, and as you may have heard, we collaborated with Venom comic book artist Ryan Stegman on a very special piece of art featuring Deku and the film’s antagonist, Flect Turn, battling it out!
Of course, Ryan is no stranger to the world of My Hero Academia, having created a unique piece of art for the franchise’s French manga release via publisher Ki-oon! But we wanted to see what his all-time favorite anime series were.
Check out the full list below!
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Stegman: I still remember when I could finally afford the DVD box set! I count Neon Genesis Evangelion as not only one of my favorite anime ever, but as one of my favorite pieces of any media ever.
Such a beautiful story.
AKIRA
Stegman: This was my intro to anime. The SYFY channel used to run anime on Saturday mornings and I caught it on there and was hooked.Â
One of the most impressive pieces of art that I’ve ever seen.
Samurai Champloo
Stegman: I loved the character design in this one and I’m a big hip-hop fan, so it was a really fun marriage between anime and music. And the overarching story was a real pleasure.
Fullmetal Alchemist
Stegman: I really enjoyed watching this series when it was originally coming out, but I recently did a re-watch with my sons and it was great to experience it all over again with them.
