Based on the light novels by Mato Satō and Nilitsu, The Executioner and Her Way of Life is being directed by Yoshiki Kawasaki (Ascendance of a Bookworm assistant director) at studio J.C.STAFF, with series composition by Shogo Yasukawa (Food Wars!), character designs by Keiko Tamaki (Cells at Work! Animation director) and music by MICHIRU (given).

The story centers on Menou, a talented Executioner who one day fails to take out her target—Akari, a Lost One who unknowingly possesses the inability to die. Committed to finishing the job, Menou sets out on a life-changing journey, literally and metaphorically, with Akari in tow.
