When Will Ayumu Make His Move?, you ask? It’s been a bit over a year since the anime’s announcement, but we finally have our first teaser trailer and confirmation of the main cast!
The trailer highlights Yōhei Azakami (D_CIDE TRAUMEREI THE ANIMATION) as Ayumu Tanaka, a stoic high-schooler who refuses to confess his feelings for the easily flustered Urushi Yaotome, played by Kanna Nakamura, until he beats her at shogi.
They’re also joined by Hina Yomiya (Selection Project) as Sakurako Mikage and Tsubasa Gouden as Takeru Kakuryu, the equally awkward childhood friends of the primary pair.

Based on the manga by Soichiro Yamamoto, When Will Ayumu Make His Move? is being directed by Mirai Minato (The Dungeon of Black Company) at studio SILVER LINK., with series composition by Deko Akao (Komi Can’t Communicate) and character designs by Kazuya Hirata (BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense.).
When Will Ayumi Make His Move? is currently scheduled to air in Summer 2022.
