The previously announced The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel – Northern War anime has officially revealed some new details, including a release window, director and studio!

Tatsunoko Production (PSYCHO-PASS 2, Ping Pong the Animation) confirmed earlier this week that it was set to produce the anticipated series, with Hidekazu Sato (Aquarion Logos, Last Hope) on the project as director, with UserJoy, SYOU, NADA and Funimation on the series production committee.

The anime adaptation of the acclaimed game series will follow a young girl named Lavie as its new protagonist, as she adventures about in North Ambria, a location in the northwestern part of the Zemuria continent.
The Trails of Cold Steel sub-series first launched in Japan in 2013, with XSEED localizing the first and second games in the series for North American audiences in 2015 and 2016, respectively. NIS America then released the third and fourth installments around the world in 2019 and 2020.

Though the Trails of Cold Steel series has concluded in the games, NIS America has announced plans to bring the long-awaited Crossbell duology, Trails to Zero and Trails to Azure, to audiences around the world this Fall and next year, respectively.
