Forty-five days and 7,603,732 attendees later, JUJUTSU KAISEN 0 is officially the highest-grossing film of 2021 in Japan, with a running total of 10.46 billion yen (U.S. $90.7 million), overtaking Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time‘s 10.23 billion!

The film premiered on December 24, topping off a fantastic year in which anime dominated the Japanese box office, with Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet and BELLE rounding out the top four highest-earning films of the year.

It’s also a big win for voice actress Megumi Ogata, who played Shinji Ikari and Yuta Okkotsu, the main protagonists of Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time and JUJUTSU KAISEN 0.
